    Agree with others.
The more antibiotics etc excuses you make, the more suss people get.
I'd personally take non alcoholic champers in a previously used bottle etc and stick with that all night

We had this discussion just the other day - I am the Designated driver so its much easier for me

Could you possibly say you've caught a nasty bug going around and have been having gastro/vomiting? He had severe stomach cramps too

DF had this tummy bug all last week so it was good for Xmas when I had to avoid all those foods you *shouldnt* have like prawns (as hard as it was tho!) so that was easy to fake!

    Good Luck!

I'd go the fake champers poured into a real bottle, or drink lime and soda and say it's vodka, lime and soda. Otherwise, just accept the drinks, pretend to sip and tip it in the garden when no one is looking

it's going to be too hot to drink. I've been a bit unwell lately and don't want to dehydrate in the heat with the alcohol... so I'm just going to stick to water and soft drink.

if you drink dark spirits, just walk around with a glass of coke and say it's bourbon or whatever..

If you are driving on the 1st, you do NOT drink on the 31st! I won't; alcohol from NYE parties is heavy and will still be there at lunchtime on the 1st, when I want to drive.

Grape juice is a great option. Low alcohol wine/beer is OK. You can have a couple of 0.5% drinks and everyone can think they're full strength, just nurse them. Or go for grape juice. Or lemonade and orange juice.

I'm a drinker and I still love going for non-alcoholic drinks sometimes. Freshly squeezed orange juice is a great alternative because it's what you fancy at the time without screaming "not drinking!". I will often stop, think, then say "actually, do they have a cranberry J2O?", which isn't the same as saying "no alcohol thanks" but instead "I fancy a juice now."

I'd pour my own "grape juice in a wine glass" and nurse (or get your DH to do so), occasionally requesting a juice when others buy the rounds in. Nothing strange about the odd juice drink! Also, no harm in having 1-2 glasses of wine given to you. Give them to hubby after a couple of sips when he has finished his glass. Or just leave it on a table somewhere.

just say you got some girly problems that you are taking meds for. Surely no one will question more!

Or when someone pours you a drink, throw it over your shoulder or a pot plant while they are not looking!

    Goodluck tomorrow

I'm a naturopath so I'm saying I'm on a detox. So maybe go that way and say you are doing a moderate detox program that lasts for (as long as you would like). The secret is not to get stuck into the fridge and start eating all the naughty foods that shouldn't be on a detox program like cookies etc.

    Happy new year!
