Ness I didn't get sharp pangs, but it seemed like a lot of others were talking about those pangs, so it's pretty normal. I felt 'something' but not pangs, and it's been awhile so I can't really remember what it felt like

As for the u/s, I think that lots of people wait til 12 weeks. Before then is usually for dating if someone's unsure when they fell pregnant or if there's been previous troubles with pregnancy. (I'm sure there are other reasons for early u/s, but of those I know, they're the two common reasons)
