    Low Fat foods

Is it ok if I still eat low fat/ no fat foods? I usually do, always trying to keep my weight on track. I know it is not good to aim to lose weight in pregnancy. Do you need those fats or can I continue as I am?

    TIA

Low fat is good, no fat is bad..... We need good fats for the babies brain development since the brain is made of fat/cholesterol. Maybe have smaller portions but have the real thing. Fatty fish, avocadoes and eggs are suppose to be the best brain foods..... Eat whole foods, and stay away from processed stuff that is loaded with extra fat and sugars that pack on the weight.

Cool, thanks. I thought as much. Will buy a 'more fat' one next time. I have been eating avocado though. Trying to be 'healthy' with snacks too, V8 juice(so i know I am getting enough vegies) nuts and dried fruit, plus fresh fruit. At the moment my diet is so good. Let's hope it lasts

yes I know there are sooo many things that you can and can't do. You realise how many things in life are bad for you when you see thel ist of things you can 't touch when you are pg!! i agree low fat is ok, no fat is bad. If you eat full fat diary foods then it's so hard to get enough calcuim but not put on weight so I always have low fat diary. Eat nuts too they have lots of 'good fat' like a few pine nuts in a pasta or a salad.

    Happy pg

Just letting you know that dairy food is not the only food group rich in calcium.... cup of broccoli has just as much calcium and more vitamins, also, 1 tablespoon of tahinii (sesame paste) or sesame seeds have just as much calcium as a serving of cheese. Usually the fat in dairy helps absorb the nutrients, once fat is removed you remove all the benefits that come with it.
