Good Luck.. It is so exciting isn't it

The only thing I would be prepared for is a possible internal scan.. maybe not at nearly 8 weeks but sometimes they like to get a closer look..

fingers crossed for a beautiful healthy baby !! Look forward to hearing about it tomorrow

Oh how exciting hun! There is nothing better than the sound of the beautiful HB!!! Both with Iz and this time around I was showing everyone the pics I got at around 7 weeks- there actually isn't much to see other than a black sac and a white dot! but I was very proud and showed everyone! Good luck and enjoy!

yep, not much at 8 weeks - but you will be able to see the black bit in the "chest"area that goes in and out of grey = heartbeat = it is lovely to see and hear.

They will probably also just move around, check for any bleeds (normal stuff) - check where the placenta is forming, check ovaries sometimes and all that is just normal, normal, normal.

Like Tan said, not very good brag photos, but they all count!

    good luck Renstar

Ah thanks girls!! I'm so excited!

So besides finding a strong HB & them checking my dates are correct (which I'm pretty sure they are) then that's all I need to worry about??

Will they tell me the size of bub if I ask?
I asked them will i possibly have an internal and they said no, quite often it's just a normal abdominal U/S..... I would prefer not to have internal!

I'll let you girls know how it goes!!

Have a great time tomorrow!! You deserve it!
Oh and the internal scans are a piece of cake - you really dont even feel it!! Just to put your mind at ease!

The main reason I chose to wait until I am 8 weeks pregnant before I see the HB, is so I could avoid having an internal AND to see a better pic!..... I hear alot of internals are done because the person is only 6wks pregnant and it's hard to see the HB at that stage.... whereas 8 weeks they shouldn't have a problem picking it up, that is, if all is well

If I do have to have an internal, then I will but I'd prefer not to!! I've been told by heaps of people to try to avoid them especially in early pregnancy.

Internal exams are yuck Ren, but I preferred the internal u/s to the other ones. Way more comfortable than a full bladder IMO. I think at 8 weeks it might still be internal? Anyway, either way, it will be awesome!!

How exciting Ren! Good Luck tomorrow!!

Agree with MantaRay - the full bladder is THE worst bit.

I had a scan at 8 weeks too and it was a normal abdominal one. I saw and heard the heartbeat and got a picture of my little blob I also had an internal at 32 weeks and it wasn't that bad.

    Good Luck tomorrow!

Thanks girls! I've had pelvic scans done before (worried about cysts a couple times in the past) so i've had about 3 over the years, and a full bladder SUCKS!!!!

Well when I rang the receptionist there and asked her, she said that it most likely will be the abdominal scan....perhaps each place is different depending on where you go? I'd say they'll try the abdominal way first then if not a very good image they will go the internal?? Either way, i'm just happy to be seeing a that's all that really matters to me
I've been waiting sooo long for this day to arrive.!!!

DANNIM - GL!! And omg you are 12wks tomorrow!!!! eeeeee!!!!

Ren, just a warning hun, a full bladder when pg is even more uncomfortable than a full bladder otherwise - especially later on!! But it's all worth it .

Good luck with US.. They are so fun!..

Personally I prefer the internaly US.. as you get to see more, as well as not have the full bladder pain in the butt! Sonographer will do what they think is best.. But either way it no big deal..

Try to "google' Pics of 8 weeks ultrasound.. So you can see what others look like!

    Best of luck!

Didi - yeah i've been googling pics and some aren't very clear and others are amazing!! I'm not too worried about if it's a clear image or not, i just want them to say to me "yep we have a strong healthy HB!" and i'll be happy then!!!

those are the only words i need to hear "we have a heartbeat" and i"ll just be thrilled.

thanks girls for reassuring me about the internal etc. DH is a registered nurse and says that the internal is no big deal anyway besides he'll be there to hold my hand hehe

I never had to have a full bladder at the place I got all my scans done! Interesting- so it obviously depends on the place! Can't wait to see your little pics - make sure you post them up in the gallery!

Oh, yeh the full-bladder in not an easy task but it's not so bad in the beginning of pregnancy it's more when you have a scan due when you are much further along.

Sadly I was never excited about having my 1st scan as I knew it could be 'not' great news too ... so therefore I had terrible anxiety in the morning before the appt & one time ended up with the runs that I had a wee too (as you do with the no#2) & when I had my appt that day they grilled me for not having a very full bladder ... how ridiculous my 1st bub at 40, knowing the risks who wouldn't be so horribly anxious

Anyway, turned out that day they ' could ' read enough of all they needed in the scan ... so, yeh don't worry yourself silly like I did ... You go & ENJOY the experience ... and think positive thoughts ok

When I had my 1st scan ... I thought there would be this easying into it but instead it was like presto the bub was up on the screen swimming around & kicking & heartbeat pounding ... I never felt so chocked up with emotion ... Yep, had to hold back the tears to finally see our nearly 3 year in the making bub ... It was just pure magic I will guarantee you both will be on such a high from happiness for the rest of the day

Ask for a copy/photo of bub on the screen ... Just incase they don't offer one like my hospital ... you had to ask for it !!!

... Would be so lovely to know how you go

(P.S - I never had an internal, so don't know what that is all about ... I only had my daughter 2 years ago. I had an internal recently not pregnant & it honestly is no big deal. So, seriously don't worry about that.)
