Is it safe to use hair dye????

Hello
I am due to go the the hairdressers tomorrow and had planned on getting some foils and having my roots touched up with what would be permanent hair colour. I am 10 weeks pregnant and have heard that it is not safe to use hair dye while pregnant. Does anyone have any info advice on this?
