    Need some reassurance :(

Got my nt results back today - baby has a 1/59 chance of having down syndrome. My ultra sound was great, but due to high HCG and something else starting with a p (that could also be a problem with the placenta) upped my risk. I know we have a 98.3% chance that everything is fine, but I'm worried

I'm sure it'll all be ok, its just a number.....

I am not bothering with the NT scan.......too much stress really....

My sister had her 20 weeks scan, they were concerned about the nuchlial (sp?) fold being bigger than normal, she had the amnio, and everything was fine.....perfect little girl

I'm sorry your test results werent what you'd hoped Chody I can imagine how worried you must be at the moment.

Did they offer you any other type of testing? Like amnio?

Chody I was told with my last 3 pregnancies that they all had a high chance DS. The scans were fine (perfect in fact) but put in conjunction with the bloods they all ended up about 1:30. I had 3 amnios and I have 3 perfect princesses

Try not to worry - hard as it may be - as I'm sure everything is fine xxx

    Big hugs hun.

Ive never had an NT scan done so it's hard to sympathize with how you must be feeling.

If it were me however, I would take that '98.3% chance that everything will be ok' and run with it.

A 98.3% chance is good enough for not NOT to risk the chance of losing the baby due to the Amnio.

Obviously only you can know what is right for your family as I'm sure you will make the right decision for you all.

Is it ok for me to ask if the chance of having a downs babe is a 'be all and end all' diagnoses?

Hi chody, big hugs to you. I had a poor nt result 1/191 and stressed about it for weeks. Ended up having an amnio which was all clear. Only you know if you need to have an amnio to put your mind at ease. I knew that i would be ok with the result no matter what, but i wanted to be prepared. Do what you think is best for you - the chances ofeverything being ok are incrdibly high. Hugs....xoxo.

Hun if you don't want to wait two weeks for an amnio, you can have a CVS now. Something to look in to.

Thanks, but I was told cvs results take 10 days to get back so I wouldn't get them til about the time I'd have the amnio anyway, and my ob said amnio results only take 1-2 days.

Hi chody. Amnio results are only available that early if you pay extra, and the extra is not claimable on medicare (because its not a compulsory charge). I cant remember how much the extra was but it might have been a couple hundred bucks?? Some of the other girls might know, or the ultrasound clinic or your OB could tell you. Xoxo

I would be the same 98% chance bubs is fine? I would run with it. I had an NT last time, but not this time. I found it more stressful than it was worth tbh and was a bit put off. I guess being realistic what you need to discuss with your partner/SO whatever is what would you do if they do confirm it, as they cant tell you how severe it will be, my mother worked with disabled children her whole teaching career there is a massive range of being affected from hardly noticeable to super severe. I would'nt worry too much. 98% is pretty exellent. I swear these scans create more stress than is needed during pregnancy

Oh Chody I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I'm sure your baby is going to be absolutly fine. A very good friend of mine had the same thing happen - only the risk was much higher - she had the amnio and 6 months later had a beautiful perfectly healthy baby girl. But I remember the stress that she was under so I can understand how you would feel right now

If you need to talk you know where I am xxxxxx

Hi Chody, I'm sorry you have to go through this stress. Hopefully everything will be fine. I wanted to let you know that I chose a CVS test because I wanted to be tested ASAP with DS. My results were back within 2 days and I didn't pay any extra.

Oh Chody, I'm sorry you're so worried, it would be stressful. It would be hard not to think about all the possible outcomes for your family, but I hope you only get the best outcome. I know you know what the diagnosis would mean for your family, I think sometimes that's harder! I don't have any experience (having avoided all testing) but I can send love and hugs.
