Unhappy No heart beat at 7wks 2days

    Hello,
We had our first ob appointment today and although out little bubba measured 7.1mm which put it at 6w4d, the ob could not get a heartbeat with either a internal or external scan.

From some quick reading on the web, I'm pretty sure that a heartbeat should have been picked up - I am now terrified that my little one has left us.

The ob gave us the referals for the 12wk scan, but I'm not sure if he just did this to placate us. DH asked about not seeing a heartbeat and the ob said that it was prob just too early - I now think he was just lying.

I just wanted to go in there today and see a little heart beat to know that this little bubba was going to stick, now I just dont know what to do and how to deal with just waiting to misscarry.

I dont know what to do.

Oh hun, I agree with UntoldAngel, can you ask to get another scan at 8 weeks or something like that? With both my pg, they deliberately gave me a scan at around 8 weeks from memory so I wouldn't get stressed if the HB couldn't be found as it was probably too early. I think you'll go nuts if you wait till the 12 weeks. I'm praying for a nice little HB for your little one and for a nice sticky pg.

I think maybe it's borderline FG. I would get another scan in a week or so - I really hope this is a good sticky one

FG, It could be still too early for a HB, so don't lose hope. I agree with the others, try to get another scan in a weeks time

I'd wait for another scan too. I don't think your Dr would have given you the referral for the nuchal scan if he knew that things weren't right

Im sorry to hear of this. If there is any potential for discrepancy with your dates then it could be ok. I think you should request another scan in one weeks time. You should def see a heartbeat by 8.5w and then you will know for sure. I dont think its fair on you to wait until 12 weeks for another scan.

I hope it all works out well.

    Big hugs hun!!

I hope you can get in for a scan a bit sooner to put your mind at ease hun. I don't think the Ob would have referred you if he thought something was wrong either FWIW.

Agree. A doctor wouldn't (shouldn't) not tell you what they believe is really going on. If he thought it was unusual not to see a heartbeat then surely he'd just be honest and say so, maybe even prepare you for the worst.

It could very well be too early. Hang in there and I hope you can get another scan soon to ease your mind

Thanks everyone - I think with DS being IVF bub and having the viability scan at 6wks, I was just in the mindset that we would be able to see a little heartbeat this time. Spoke with DH about it over lunch and he is supportive of me booking back into the ob for another scan (although he will be on leave so it will be a locum(sp!)) - figures the money is worth it if it puts my mind at rest! I just hate not knowing one way or the other.

I hope that my Dr would not have mislead us, I guess I just have to trust him and try and stay positive.

Thanks again for all your support.

It's not unusual to not see a hb before 7 weeks.
Can you get your GP to refer your for a u/s at 8 weeks?

Hey thanks for checking in on me! Going ok. No bleeding so far (but have no idea when that would happen if our little one is gone) and still felling a bit sick so trying to focus on that at the moment and just hope that all is going ok with my bub -if just a little slow!

Will ring and book another scan tomorrow-I need a plan and that is all I can control at the moment!

    Thanks for your care!
