Right what do i ask? i am seen weeks and have had a previous m/c but never made it this far - i am not sure if this specialist (was my GYN) does OB as well so thats the first one... OK here what i am going to ask so far...If any one else can think of anything else i might have missed please let me know...
1. Is GYN going to be my OB as well - if not who is he going to refer me too.
2. Do i need a midwife as well - does he have a list of midwives he works with /Recommends
3.When do i need to book my next scan?
4. Can we DTD? is it safe?
5. How likely am i to m/c now?
6. Gestational Diabetes when will i be tested for that - and likelihood of development?
7. How soon can we TTC #2
8. What kind of Birthing do you allow? Active, home birth etc...
I guess if he's going to be the OB, ask him which hospitals he works with? I got my OB to look at the vitamins I was taking and got him to confirm dietry restrictions. Umm... can't think of anything else
btw... thinking about #2 already?? hehehe. I guess at some stage I'll be asking if I'll be needing Metformin again in order to concieve #2.
I know janie - its just with having to take the clomid and it taking a year i wanted to start as soon as poss after the birth (well probably about the 9 month mark) just in case it takes us even longer!!!
AJ,
I wanted to know how accessable he has after hrs or what was the drill in an emergency.
Also check if he has holidays booked in for when you are due...nothing worse than finding out last minute.
Bec
thanks bec - man my list is getting longer and longer - but better to be prepared - and if i write them all down then i won't forget - unless i forget to take the list - hmmm - might make a second copy and place it somewhere like in the car - darn mushy brain already
AJ - a lot of these things he will probably cover anyway. When I booked in with my OB, the first thing the girls did was check that he'd be around when I'm due. A lot of questions were answered by the standard letter he gave me on his procedures of care too. You'll be seeing him so many times between now and when bubby arrives so don't feel like you have to ask everything in the first visit
Oh one thing I did need to do... even tho I was seeing him as GYN, I had to go to the GP to have the pg confirmed and get another referral to see him as an OB. Maybe ring his receptionists and ask them what you need to do now that you're pregnant.
