So we went for our first scan and they said they couldn't see a heartbeat and I needed to go back two weeks later for another scan to see what was going on. I went to the Obs and he said it all looked normal, but he wouldn't pull any punches, there was a big question mark over the viability of this pregnancy and given that I have miscarried in the past, my odds weren't hot. I came to terms with all this and must admit, I was pretty depressed about it all and beginning to grieve.
We went for the repeat ultrasound on Saturday. We didn't see a heartbeat.
WE SAW TWO! Yes, TWINS!
Though, because I am a larger lady and my uterus is buried deep, they couldn't get a good view on one of them and have asked me to come back in two weeks so we can make sure.
I cried when I saw the first baby, it was such a relief. But TWO!!! We have no occurrence of multiple births in either of our families and this pregnancy wasn't conceived using IVF. As you can imagine, we are pretty shocked!
