I agree go with the spit option and say you're not a big wine drinker. And if you are already showing by then (i got horrible bloated at the beginning) try wear something flowly or say you had a big lunch to avoid any questions asking if you are pregnant.

CONGRATS! I know how you feel. We had my BIL engagement party when we found out with our first.
I went with the 'I have been really run down with a virus so on antiobiotics'. This worked perfectly for those who noticed I wasnt drinking. Otherwise I had lemonade in a champagne glass and no one knew the wiser!

Congrats - I agree with Trillian - unless you protest too much most people wont even notice.
Usually when people are busy drinking the rarely will notice whether or not you actually take a drink - you could also carry your drink into the kitchen area, garden or loo and tip a bit out
