    OMG..really was not expecting this!

    Hi all....

Im feelin quite shell shocked at the moment after discovering we are expecting bubbi #2!! Have to turn to someone as i know its very early days yet (doc has estimated im only 4.5 weeks) and i know you girls r so supportive. DS will be just shy of his 2nd birthday when #2 is born so im really feeling qite scared at having 2 under 2!! Can anyone let me know of their experiences with such a small age gap? DH is super excited...im the one that does not feel ready or prepared...i feel i should be happy b/c it took us a long time to concieve DS but im feeling very apprehensive atm....no im freaking out tbh!!

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

Hi Jax and welcome to BB. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I have a 19 month age gap between dd1 and dd2. To be honest, it was hard going at the start, however it did get easier and here we are a year on and its great. Yes they fight a bit, but they also love each other to bits and play pretty nicely most of the time.

    Hi Mimatron,

Thanks for yr reply ...helps to know that it does have some positives even though im still freaking out!! The doc i saw today told me she has a 19month gap between her 2 also and she said although it was hard work at the start they are now reaping the benefits as they are very close. Im just worried about how i will cope with a newborn and a toddler!! We werent planning on trying till middleof next year..was hoping for more like a 3 year age gap rather than 2 year!! Am i being a nut? would it be any easier having a 3 year old and a newborn?

All gaps have their advantages and disadvantages. My 2 are 17 months apart and we're just getting on top of life now (8 months on). My cousin has a 3 year age gap with her 2 littlies and it still struggling.
I don't think there is a magic number, i just think you manage with whatever you get!

2 yr 7 mnth age gap here and it certainly is not easy for the first year. They are into very different things and a 3 year old needs alot of entertaining - well my one does at least.
