I have been losing sleep over the last couple of nights and am hoping everyone can put my mind to rest!
We went camping on the weekend and decided to go for a hike to some rockpools. It was alot hotter than I anticipated and I was struggling a little and it was a mixture of up and downhill and took about an hour to get there. I did feel slightly and I mean slightly spacey on the walk there (I was wearing a hat and didn't have a big breakfast either) but by no means felt sick, had a headache or dehydrated (I took a camelbak with me and was constantly sipping the whole way). When we got there I had something to eat and a swim and felt fine. On the hour walk back, whilst I was still hot it was easier and I felt ok. I didn't feel unwell when we returned back to camp.
So my concern is whether I may have caused some damage if I overheated? I am 6 weeks and 5 days today, are there many other ladies who have done hiking or other types of exercise and felt like this having perfectly healthy babies? What are the chances that damage might occur?
I honestly wouldnt worry about it it, it would be the same as having a hot bath, the amniotic fluid is a good cushion from harm and its still so tiny at this stage
I know someone who did Kokoda and fainted on the plane home. She went to the dr and found out she was 6 weeks preg
Keep hydrated I am sure you will be fine.
Thanks guys, Joeve I assume your friend had a perfectly healthy bub? I imagine no matter how fit you are the Kokoda would have been pretty tough with the terrain and the heat...
