Overseas Travel When Pregnant

Hi Guys,

Husband and I are planning an overseas trip for October and are semi TTC for baby #1 but semi holding off untill we're away. Just wondering your thoughts on if I do fall pregnant before then, would you still go? We're not going anywhere like Bali or the likes where you have to watch the food, water etc... but there would be a lot of air travel.

I'm confused - would you start properly TTC, banking on the fact that chances of falling pregnancy straight away are normally low so don't have to cancel holiday, start properly TTC and continue on holiday regardless of result - but would you travel in early stages of pregancy? or do you just be patient and wait and TTC whilst somewhere romantic in the world.

Is this making any sense??

Would just love to hear some opinions.

Just do it!!! and don't bank on it taking a while to conceive either!!! I know lots of people who got pregnant first try! As far as I know there is no reason why you can't fly whilst pregnant. i think it's only an issue much later in pregnancy!!

OK! well, it really depends who you speak to!

i'm 18 weeks pregnant and we are off to Greece next Saturday for 4 weeks!!! can't wait!! Generally Drs prefer you to travel and be back before you close your 24th week! well mine did anyway, due to the fact that if you went into early labour or something went wrong you were home where there is greater chance of survival for the bub!

So i say GO FOR IT too! it took us 3/4 months to conceive, and we had planned this holiday from the beginning of the year.. if you DO go, make sure you have travel insurance that covers you for medical including pregnancy, just in case! we got HBA travel insurance and they cover it as a pre existing no extra cost item until your 24 weeks!

My SILs, SIL travelled overseas for work right up until 35 weeks and she had no issues!

Appreciate your opinions heaps - hard to know what to do, cause looking forward to both the holiday and of course a baby, I think I was overanalyzing the situation and of course being the first time of TTC a little nervous. I guess sometimes we have to not stress so much and just let life happen as it's meant to.

Just also that I'd read different things on the net advising against travel in first trimester but not really sure on the crediblity.

just wanted some other opinions of people who have been there done that.

Book your holiday and have a ball!!!

If you are luckey enought to conceive straight away good on you!!

The only issue with travel will be nausea which so many peopele get without being preg so no issue!! if u are preg buy some support stockings to wear on plane to stop you getting dvt!!

No reason in early preg not to fly!!

I'd book it and go... you can def travel in pregnancy, I know heaps of people who have (including me) with no concerns any greater than if you were at home.
Also as an aside holidays seem to be a great fertility raiser... it took us 12 mnths but finally happened on hols, and same for many of my friends....
If you start earlier it may happen which is great but also you may just be fertile when you go (it can take a while to get cycles semi regular etc)
So my opinion only but go for it - all possibilities are wonderful!

When I fell pregnant with my first child I found out in Malaysia. My husbane said, "It's just a crappy asian test". When I got home we did the test again, sure enough the test was not dodgy.

I had an ultrasound 1 week later and found out I was 11 weeks pregnant.(Time flys when your having fun!)

At 41 weeks I had a very healthy 9 pound girl.
