My GP referred me to a clinic who just happened to be a bulk billing practice. First time I had ever heard of that! She said a certain amount of scans are bulk billable although not the NT scan. I am quite stoked to have found this clinic as they said if I have referrals from a specialist (being my ob) they can bulk bill nearly all my scans. I need quite a few to keep an eye on my cervix so I am cheering! Last time it cost us a fortune for all the scans. Worth it of course
So, in answer to your question I have no idea why some can bulk bill and some don't!
I wasn't charged with FS cause she routinely does it to make sure everything is fine before referring to hospital or OB... Not sure why people have to pay for dating ones though :s
sometimes scans re a medical necessity and sometimes they are requested...I think that makes a difference.
Then there is where you choose to go. Going to the local public hossy generally doesn't cost if it's a medical scan whereas a private clinic usually always charges,
Nope from the gp. The referral he gave me, the place only does them for people who come through emergency etc. It says us-obstetric. I wanted it because I concieved on clomid
My GP said you normally have to pay unless you have a 'reason'
on my form she wrote 'confimation of dates due to erratic periods since coming off depo'
lol she gave me the option of which place i wanted to go to aswell
