I am currently 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant, with #2. I have had 2 early miscarriages also. My HCG at 16dpo was 141 and at 23dpo was 3241, with prog of 71, which is all looking okay. Since Friday night(23dpo), I have had constant period-like pains that have not really eased. They are not hugely painful, but has just constantly been there for 48 hours now.
I have read on these boards that many of you have had period type pains in the first few weeks of pregnany, but has anyone had them constantly for a few days without it really easing much? I have a GP appt in 2 days, so hoping all is okay. Am just looking for a bit of reassurance I guess, as I am so worried about miscarrying again. I have had no bleeding at all though, just the constant pain. Thanks for your help.
Not sure what I can say that might help? I think that you only need to be concearned when there is cramping and bleeding together? Not sure, but didn't want to read and run. All the best.
I have had twinges a lot lately too. When I told my GP he said that as I may have had some endo that this is a reaction to the changing shape of the uterus. I am also a little constipated at the moment so not exactly sure where the pain is coming from.
I had the normal period pain for a couple of weeks - I honestly thought I had misread the HPT and was going to get AF any minute! Cramping is (to a degree) rather normal and can be an indication of implantation. As someone mentioned, most doctors will tell you not to be concerned if there is no bleeding associated with the cramps. However, feel free to contact your care provider and discuss it with them. Considering your history, they may send you for an ultrasound to check things out and to put your mind at ease.
Things seem to be a bit better today - thank goodness. Most of the pain has now gone and I just feel a bit heavy. I seem to have had some constipation too, so don't know if that may have been contributing to it or not. Hopefully things are still okay. I will still see my GP tomorrow and get my prog and HCG checked again I think. I have a scan booked in for next week. Thank you to everyone for your replies - it has helped ease my mind a little.
hi nicole in the first 10 weeks of my pregnancy i had twitches and pains but i was told my uterus was changing. I wouldnt worry sweetie. if you see blood go straight to the hospital. hope all goes well with the pregnancy.
Oh you poor love. I so can sympathise with you. I too have had 2 losses. This is number six for us and when I first found out I was pregnant I was waiting for AF to show up for weeks because the af type pains were there almost 24 hours straight for the first couple of weeks. It was just this little man having the pleasure of settling into his mothers womb, never mind my annoyance to this! He had to make sure he was cosy for that long 8 months!
No bleediong is an excellence sign sweetie, take a deep breathe, and remember your pregnant "TODAY" and when tomorrow comes your pregnanct all that day too, so one day at a time!
I am also 5 weeks pregnant and for the last 2 days have had quite strong period pain, cramping and bloating - no bleeding though so I assume it means all is ok.
I understand how confusing it feels - so much uncertainty - I guess you just need to be positive and know you aren't alone...
Hey,
Just wanted to add that I am feeling the same thing. They are quite strong too - not as strong as regular AF pain, as in I don't cringe, but pretty close! It is great that others have felt this pain too so it appears to be normal for some people! No bleeding either, so I guess we should do as you guys suggest - relax and enjoy the moment,
Yup, totally normal at this stage of pg - your uterus is growing and starting to change! I understand why you are nervous but try not to be, there are lots of weird and uncomfortable feelings throughout pg, but especially at this early stage.
Yep I get it a bit too, it can be because your uterus is banging about demanding everything else to take a step back because it's getting ready to cook a kidlet. Talk to your dr when you see them with your history just so they can have a poke around and make sure everythings a-ok.
I thought I would update and let you know that I had a scan this week and all is well. Baby was measuring 4mm long at 6 weeks 2 days and we got to see the heartbeat. Good luck to us all.
