Hi Ladies
I am 5.5 weeks pregnant after a FET (hurrah!) and was told to use the progesterone pessaries that I had left until they ran out (400mg twice a day). I don't have an issue with progesterone but they them to me as 'extra support' and my levels when I had my BT were fine and they said they don't need to check them again.
I have about 4-5 days worth left and was wondering what others have done with stopping? I have left a message with the nurses but thought I would see what others have been told I do. I am thinking stopping cold turkey might be a shock to my system? Should I wean to only at night and maybe skip a day towards the end?
I don't know much about progesterone, will I feel different once stopping?
Thanks! xx
Hi Hummingbird. Congratulations again. I was always on 2 x Crinone per day and continued until 12 weeks for both pregnancies. But everyone is different and Drs may recommend different. Mine is a long history if infertility and unsuccessful ivf attempts. Hope you are feeling well. Best wishes x
I'd be questioning this and asking them to check your P4 levels and continue the pessaries for at least another 4 weeks. If it wasn't a natural FET then it will take a while until progesterone is being produced by the forming placenta (normally your corpus luteum from a burst ovarian follicles will do that in a natural FET - ie when you ovulate). I took support until about 12 weeks but some clinics wean a little earlier than that.
Thanks ladies
I ended up speaking with the nurses who said I needed to keep taking (grrrr as this was different to my first instructions and only found out when I checked how to wean off them), but they said wait till 7 week scan (on Monday) and FS will tell me what to do.
It was a natural FET and though its taken over two years the 'issue' is my over-zealous immune system so I'd think my hormones etc are ok...but taking so many other things I may as well add pessaries to the mix! Looking forward to stopping them.
