    Spotting and Cramping

    Hi,

I have now done 5 home pregnancy tests and they have all been positive. I should be around 5 weeks pg and when I went to get my blood test results today the doctor was massively busy (the clinic I go to doesn't allow appointments). I will be changing doctors but I just wanted to get the blood test done asap.

On Tuesday morning at about 2am I got up to go to the loo and had some very light spotting. I also had some mild cramping which I put down to constipation. Since then I have had light spotting every night and I've had mild cramping that comes and goes but is getting worse. I mentioned the spotting to the doctor on Tuesday and she said it was probably piles - it was definitely not, but she wasn't interested and just kept changing the subject.

I feel like I shouldn't be stressing about this, because there's nothing I can do about it.... but I can't help it!

    Has anyone experienced similar?

    Thanks!

I had really bad cramping from 5-7weeks, would take my breath away sometimes, I also had a few days of light pink streaky spotting and everything is perfect here :-)

    Spotting and Cramping

With number 1 I had cramping from 5so dr gave me an u/s you don't see much that early but it just tells the dr the baby is in the right spot or not , I would get my blood results on hard copy and go to another dr who will give you the time of day

Cramping can be perfectly normal. I've had it in the early stages of all of my pregnancies. But obviously you're not going to be able to relax much until you've had some good feedback from a professional. I hope you find someone with more time to sit with you and really listen to your concerns. In the mean time, great big hugs.

I had cramping and spotting on and off for 2 weeks between 6 and 8 weeks, it was very stressful as I expected the worst but I went on to have a baby. It should be checked though.
Sorry your doctor brushed you of thats not fair. Theres nothing much you can do, I just went on bed rest but I don't think it makes any difference.
Cramping is pretty normal in the beginning of pregnancy, and if you had only light spotting it could be implantation.
Best of luck, I hope you get to see a (kind) doctor soon.

    Spotting and Cramping

Hey matie! I've had spotting with ALL off my pregnancies. I have 2 healthy kids, 13 weeks with my 3rd, and have had 3 miscarriages.

The miscarriages were different spotting however, not a light streak if blood through CM or light pink after wiping from doing a wee etc. it was heavy, bright red, blood with huge clots. I wouldn't call it spotting..

It sounds to me like it could be implantation?? I had it at 6 weeks with this pregnancy. I didn't know that's what it was until my ob did an ultrasound and showed me.

Is this your first? If you are a negative blood group you may want to ask your doctor about an anti D shot.

Thanks so much for all the responses - it has comforted me a little. This is my first pregnancy and I'm 36yo, so I think I'm a bit paranoid as well...

    Hi Miss Kris,

    It's horrible isn't it!?

I am around 9 1/2 weeks now and still spotting, most days not enough to mark my underwear but when I do spot on my underwear - freak out!
I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks 4 days and everything was fine. The doctor doesn't seem concerned and I feel horrible with ms, barely functioning tbh.

Hopefully the spotting is just "one of those things" that happens and will go away....

Thanks for the update, was wondering how you got along...I had such terrible cramping with all my girls. so scary!

spotting is so scary, but also really really normal for many pregnancies. Hopefully it all settles down soon enough...the moment you conceive our wee children have us worrying!

Wanted to update in case anyone else is going through the same issue. I'm now thirteen weeks and I'm still spotting occasionally, but there seems to be longer between spotting "episodes" as time goes on. My obstetrician found a harmless lesion on my cervix and he thinks that may have been causing the spotting.

I had my nuchal translucency today and the baby is looking very healthy and strong. fx all continues well
