    Surprised by the Positive

    Hi everyone.

I had my first child at 40, my second at 41 which, after accepting that I'd never have children was a joyous shock.
I'm 42 now and was feeling really off this week so DH chided me about being pregnant but we both laughed it off.
Yesterday, I stopped laughing when the electronic words "Pregnant 3-4" came up.

    I'm still in shock.
There is no question of abortion and I realise it's early days so I've still got to wait out that compulsory 3 month period but I will confirm it with the GP next month and we'll go from there.

I just wasn't expecting this and my mind is a bit of a blank right now.

I'm thinking silly things like extra baby seat (capsule), bigger car, extra high chair.......we rent and he has a part-time job due to a disability. I was in the middle of applying for jobs in preparation for a return to the full-time workforce...and now that will have to stop. I guess you could say I'm happy but numb.

Congratulations... sounds like you just need to take it one day at a time, thinking about all the things that have to happen makes it seem like a mountain to climb. Just settle into the news first and the rest will happen in good time! With my third baby we sold our car a few days after she was born and bought a bigger car, not ideal but it was ok! You will get large family supplement and rent assistance as well.

Congratulations! I can imagine it must be a shock for you but you have 7/8 months or so to sort out all those details. Try not to panic now and just take it a day atva time.

    Love your username lol
