I have this also and i have started seeing a physio, it hurts to walk and they gave me a belly belt (already) but its small and can be worn under clothes. Its annoying and painful. I hope you get it sorted soon.

Yes, it can be very normal. Pregnancy hormones relax the ligaments and muscles in our hip and pelvic areas. I'm suffering myself at the moment. I'm getting bad sciatica and also lots of pain from a tailbone that I broke at Christmas 2 years ago.

What works for me is a warm bath before bed and if the pain is really bad, it is safe to take a couple of Panadol or even Panadeine. When you're in bed try not to lay on the bad side and when you need to turn, put a pillow between your legs so that you move your body weight evenly. Otherwise, we tend to use our weight to turn over and that can aggravate the pain.

When you're walking, try to walk evenly and try NOT to limp. I know how hard it is, but when you limp you put more pressure on the rest of your body and that can make the initial hip pain even worse. If you're going to be sitting for any length of time, take a towel with you so you can roll it up and place it behind you for a bit of lumbar support and to stop your hips from relaxing backwards.

Failing that, as much as the temptation is to sit down, try to stay active. If you give in to it and let your activity levels drop, you'll pay for it more in later pregnancy.

Oh and if you have a large public hospital nearby, try to get a referral to their Women's Physio department. They are excellent.

Good luck, hope it feels better soon.
