I was just wondering who out there has had a positive ultrasound only to go on to miscarriage? I know it depends on lots of things but I just wanted to kow to put my mind at ease.
My ob told me last year the once you have a healthy scan there is only 1% chance of anything going wrong. I read on the internet its between 70 and 90% depending on type of scan.
My scan was an internal: heartbeat was 116 beats (radiographer said 120). Measured at 6 weeks 2 days which was right on perfect. No bleeding seen ( I am spotting).
With my first pregnancy I had an u/s at 8 weeks which showed it was fine but then m/c a week later. She hadn't done an internal though so would that have made a difference? With second pregnancy I had 3 scans before 12 weeks and all were fine.
I guess I am feeling a little apprehensive still even though it was okay on Fri. I am still spotting - not enough to go in underwear but when I wipe its def there. Brown not red.
Hi Jordie
Try not to worry....which i know is easy said than done, but i read somewhere if a heartbeat is detected the chances of a successful pregnancy are really high, can't remember for the life of me the percentage though...sorry i couldn't be more help.
I guess you also know from past experience that chance is still there to MC.
Hi, with my first bub I had a good u/s showing a heart beat (cant remember how far along I was though) I ended up losing him/her at 10 weeks. They did some tests & said there were no chromosomes (sp?) from my DH in bubs.
So it can happen, but I cant imagine it would happen often.
Try to stay positive (I know its so very hard to do when you're spotting) While I was PG with DD I started to bleed, bright red filling a pad, at 9 weeks, I thought "here we go again", I was heartbroken. But DD pulled through.
Sometimes you just lose a little blood throughout pregnancy. It's very common & most of the time (I think) they end in healthy babies!
Rest up & if the spotting continues or gets worse maybe book in for an u/s. Thats what I did when I had my bleed with DD, I had an u/s the following morning & seeing that heartbeat put my mind at ease.
Good luck & sending you bucketloads of sticky vibes. Hope all goes well.
Unfortunately there are no certainties sometimes the embryo just doesn't develop the way it's meant to, or stops developing. But like the other ladies have said, a positive ultrasound is a GREAT sign!
I had brown spotting from 5w - 7w and a heart beat on the u/s at 6w3d. Bubs is now 25w and going well. According to my GP the brown bleeding at that time is pretty common and the internal u/s will show the state of the cervix and any haemmoraging internally so maybe that's why the internal is more accurate?
Due to my bleeding/spotting my OB sent me for BT`s to check on my HCG levels as he doesn`t like doing an u/s before 8 weeks.
I had to ring him again on Friday due to the spotting, he said going on my great HCG levels he`s not concerned and still wants me to wait till 8 weeks for my u/s.
I just went to toilet and there was quite a bit of red blood. In the shower (sorry TMI) I sort of cleaned myself and it was very small brown clots, nothing big or red. So no idea but deep down I really think this won't work out because I am feeling fine, no morning sickness except for slight queasiness during the day. I know I had the positive can but....I'm just feeling it won't be okay.
JordyC,
My heart goes out to you. I m/c this past week (abt 6wks). I had cramps, backache and pain for a few days before bright red bleeding and large clots (sorry TMI). This was my first pregnancy (ttc 6mths) so I don't really know what's going on, but am sending sticky vibes your way. Perhaps you need to see someone...
Good luck.
My heart goes out to you. I just experienced a miscarriage in october. It was very hard and confusing as you may know. I was 6 weeks pregnant. I never had an ultrasound but I did know that my HCG levels were only at 40. So If you havent got tht checked do it. If it continues to rise every 48-96 hours you are ok, if it lowers than I am sorry but more than likely its a miscarriage. I am five and a half weeks right now and my HCG levels ar alrady higher than before they are 1332. I am here fro you if you need to talk.
