Yeah, I think so. I did, anyway. A few kilos mostly on my breasts and midriff around 5 weeks or so. Like my torso was thickening. It made the final fittings for my wedding dress just that much more enjoyable...

I've put on a couple of kilos now and I'm about 17 weeks... but I try not to look at the weight so I don't get sad

I grew out of my pre-preg clothes immediately, despite the vomiting. It's probably water retention - I retained water so badly in my pregnancy, I got stretch marks on my upper arms and calves instead of my thighs! DP was most upset at how thick my calves were, he thought I was getting extreemly fat lol. I was showing in the first trimester because of the water retention.

Don't worry much about picking up weight.
Make sure you eat healthy and don't over eat. I had this craving for ice-cream when pg, turns out it was not really cravings, just me thinking up excuses to get DH to buy me tubs and tubs of the stuff, because still now I have cravings for ice-cream.
Just because you have a bub growing, does not mean you have to eat for two. Drink plenty of water and do light exercise.
The importend thing is to STAY HEALTHY and not diet while pg.

I just had my 12 week app with OB and I had put on 3 kgs, I thought it was cool coz I've been the same weight since year 7 (1997) and never been able to put on weight.

I think its pretty normal to start gaining a little wait early in pregnancy because your hormones are changing, and your body is changing shape.

When I was pregnant with our daughter the rules that I stuck by was ONLY EAT FOR ONE you dont need to eat for 2, dont over eat but dont starve either, eat healthy but allow yourself to have some small treats.

Now doing this I actually lost 8kgs after pregnancy. Im pregnant with bubba number 2 and I am doing the same. The way I think about it is, I cant let myself over eat because Im pregnant!

    Hope that helps, good luck

I've put on weight too but I probably would have anyway over Christmas with all that Christmas food. Normally I'd put myself on a diet after New Year's but at the moment I'm either hungry or sick and I'm just grazing the whole day. Today I bought watermelon, cherries, strawberries, grapes, plums and bananas and I'm working my way through that lot! And I'm keeping up a gentle walk in the mornings and evenings with my old dog, which we both enjoy
So, yes, I think a slight weight gain is normal unless you're so violently sick that you can't keep anything down.
Congratulations again, Pindle, and wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Everyone's different. I'm still about 1kg lighter than I was when I got pregnant and I'm 17 weeks.

wow - everyone is different i guess! i think that it probably is fluid though - i am not overeating at the moment and i am usually (dont have me) one of those people that stay the same weight no matter what i eat - this is why i am so surprised that i feel like i have a stomach already at 7 weeks!

i put on 6kgs by the time i was 6 weeks! I ate a healthy diet and excercised and i put on 30kg during my pregnancy. i have now lost 23kg and counting, without trying, it is just falling off. Everyone is different, just stay healthy and enjoy your pregnancy curves!

ETA- i was the same as you, always pretty stable with my weight.

Has anyone lost weight? I've lost about 2kg which is a big deal for me since my weight hasn't changed in years.

It's normal to lose weight in your first trimester if you have morning sickness. Have you been vomiting? It might be normal anyway actually, I'm not sure.

I've lost 4kg's so far in this pregnancy & I haven't vomitted once. I'm not worried though as I know every pregnancy is different & the baby takes what it needs no matter if you put weight on or lose it (within reason of course!)
I'm already showing with this pregnancy but with number one I didn't show til about 27 weeks!

I've now lost 3kg and I was vomitting from about wk6 to wk11. I'm quite small so I'm wondering what my baby is drawing on to grow if there's nothing in my stomach. Oh well, I'll find out how everything is at my NT+ next Monday.

I use to lose weight in the first trimester of my pregnancy and then start to put on around half way through.

My Ob doesn't worry about weight. He just checks my ankles and wrists to make sure there is no fluid retention.

As the other girls have said, eat a healthy diet, try and get in some daily exercise and don't worry about the scales.

    Enjoy your pregnancy!

I started having a tummy around 6 weeks and it has been steadily growing since then, but my weight has remained exactly the same. I haven't thrown up much, but I have also found that i am not eating as big a portions as I was because i am getting fuller quicker. So i have decided not to stress over my eating as long as i don't do anything different to when I wasn't pregnant - except eat a little more often!!!
