When can you get your first ultrasound?

I had a dating/headcount/heartbeat check U/S in the doc's office with both this pregnancy and the last the first time I turned up pregnant, which was around 8 weeks both times. It was just a very quick thing.

I had my first ultrasound on friday last week at 11 weeks. We got an awesome photo of bubs face which was awesome!! My Dr sent me for one just so I could see the baby, he's pretty good!!

Did anyone bleed after their first ultrasound? I had a little bit of spotting about 4-5hrs after the U/S. I've been to the dr since and he's going to send me for another one if I am still spotting by thursday...

Hi there, I never had any spotting after my ultra sound however i did have some spotting at the times my period was due, ie 8 weeks and 12 weeks. I went to the hospital and they did a scan and all was ok, they said that it can happen to some people. Try not to worry too much about it there could be plenty of reasons for it and if you still have spotting after a couple of days then i would go straight to the hospital, don't wait for your doctor to give you another referral etc. At least at the hospital they have the facilities to check you straight away to put your mind at ease. Hope all goes well and once again try not to stress too much about it.

i usually had an u/s at 6 to 8 weeks to check for heart beat and to make sure bub has formed etc.. i did have a bad experiance with enternal u/s with last pg which was a m/c scan was fine less than 2 hrs later spotting started and cramps then it got heavier never found out what caused it, scan was normal no blood visible or anyrhing! im pg again and will reframe from internal u/s as i dont think their is a need specially what happened last time i dont want to risk this little jelly bean! i hope its just nothing and you have a healthy bubba! xxx

i had 5 weeks with both of mine and basically whenrver i wanted - i had a private OB though adn he would just do it.

im having my first scan next tuesday at 6 weeks because i had a miscarriage 2 months ago ..just to make sure everything is fine this time round 18 weeks for ur first scan is completely ridiculous!! usually its around 8 weeks! good luck hope everything goes well hunni keep us posted
