I was wondering if anyone has told there work that they're pregnant yet? If not when do you plan to do this?
I'm just not sure when to tell my work,i know my manager will be good about it. My DH wants me to wait a bit longer before i tell work.
I'm so bloated now that i actually do look like i'm much firther along in my pregnancy, being so tired & i worry about the constant nautious feelings. My work shirt makes my belly shape very obvious too.
my boss was aware of the IVF stuff, so knew about the same time i did! she guessed when i was needing to leave work for BT's and wasn't devastated about another failed cycle
haven't confirmed it, but she pretty much told me last week that she had guessed... oops!
Blueiris, I'm a little bit different in that I'm a cop so due to duty type had to tell straight away. I guess if your jobs poses any risks for you, you should tell sooner rather than later.
I told my boss (the CEO) early as I had some bleeding and needed to rest up and go to some appointments. He has 3 girls and a 4th on the way so he was great about it.
I told my boss at around 10 weeks. The company was going through a lot of changes, and I didn't know if my going on mat leave would affect some of the decisions made. Otherwise, I probably would've waited a couple more weeks. But it is totally up to you! If you are a bit self-conscious about your belly (though no doubt you're more aware of it than anyone else!) they may well guess anyway...
I told mine almost straight away (manager's only) as sometimes there is heavy lifting involved in my job. I had to make it clear I wasn't going to be risking my pregnancy after this long TTC just to lift a few boxes.
I will tell everyone else at work after my 12 week scan.
My boss pulled me aside and told me SHE was pregnant and would need to cut down my hours....so I told her well actually so am I...so that suits me fine!! I was only 5 weeks at the time. If it hadnt have worked like that I would have told her when I was 12 weeks.
I told work yesterday (7 weeks), as soon as it became obvious that I couldn't hide the morning sickness anymore, and the need to go and see doctors etc. My boss was great, we aren't telling anyone else at work until 14 weeks hopefully!
my boss is my step father so he knew straight away as did my mum.
i told them because i wanted them to be aware if i had problems again.
last 2 times i told people about 8 weeks and then got bad news so this time i am definitely not telling work, people, friends or other family until the 12 weeks mark.
i think bosses are very understanding when you tell them your news and do what they can to make your job as easy as possible. well thats what i have found.
I held off telling people, which was just as well as both my happened around 12 weeks.
DH & I had discussed telling immedate family at 12 weeks & everybody else at 20 weeks (after scans etc - just in case ....) - depending on where I'm working (if I get pregnant again) will decide when I tell them
I unofficially told my immediate manager yesterday as i have to go to hospital to get some tests done (re existing kidney disease) and didn't want her to wonder why taking a bit of time of recently.
today she emailed me my maternity leave entitlements
I work for a really understanding workplace where we're open and v non-discriminatory. However won't go 'official' and open to everyone until 12 weeks.
I told my boss yesterday (11 weeks) as I didnt want to start making up excuses why I needed to go to appointments. He was surprisingly happy for me, I am keeping it under wraps with the rest of work for a few more weeks though I think. Had my ultrasound so it suddenly becomes more real, I am now hoping the initial congratulations will not change things. I hope I'm just being cynical but "office politics" can be unbelievable in some places, fingers crossed for now though.
I didn't! Everyone else did!!!
I worked in a small town pub (Pub, primary school & PO small) & a few people knew. Then my boss came & asked me in front of the bar & it was out!
I didn't mind, the only one I was worried about finding out was my boss she was happy, so it was good.
The day before my first scan (I had an 8w scan) - I work in the hospital and so clearing off for 2 hours where everyone can see me isn't the easiest of things to keep quiet about! My boss was on his holidays at the time so I told him when he came back; luckily he was really thrilled and for some reason quite proud, wanting to show me off quite a bit LOL. He's a doctor who does a bit of antenatal work so kept checking up on me and telling me what to do, bless him.
