I didn't! Everyone else did!!!
I worked in a small town pub (Pub, primary school & PO small) & a few people knew. Then my boss came & asked me in front of the bar & it was out!
I didn't mind, the only one I was worried about finding out was my boss she was happy, so it was good.
The day before my first scan (I had an 8w scan) - I work in the hospital and so clearing off for 2 hours where everyone can see me isn't the easiest of things to keep quiet about! My boss was on his holidays at the time so I told him when he came back; luckily he was really thrilled and for some reason quite proud, wanting to show me off quite a bit LOL. He's a doctor who does a bit of antenatal work so kept checking up on me and telling me what to do, bless him.
Well a colleague of mine had basically guessed i was pregnant. I told her today & she said that my little bouts of nausea & the fact she noticed my belly getting bigger gave it away. I then told my manager & she was thrilled for me.
I work with my mum & with DS I was on holidays. Mum said she wouldn't tell but couldn't resist & by 10am the next day I had her ringing saying she couldn't help it. I didn't mind though.
With DD, we did IVF & everyone at work knew (same job). I only worked 2 days a week at that stage & happened to be in on the day I had my BT, so work found out about 3 seconds after I got the phone call!
i told work at about 8 weeks.... a lot sooner than I anticipated but I was really sick from around 6 weeks and needed to take time off. They were really good about it!!
I told my boss when I was 12 or 13 weeks. Partly because I just HAD to tell SOMEONE and also because we were all going to his 50th birthday party that week and I wanted him to NOT be constantly offering me alcoholic drinks... cos I obviously wouldnt have acccepted them and then everyone else would have been asking and making a big deal of it. Stupid reasons but anyway! I ended up telling another lady at work when we were at the pub.. she kept on telling me to have a few drinks and I kept saying no. I had to tell her so that she would shut up!
Anyway, over the next few weeks, my boss actually told a bunch of other people at work and some clients of ours. So I was getting people at work coming up to me quietly congratulating me, and some client rang and said 'oh its you, i heard youre pregnant'. So I didnt tell many people, my boss did it all... I'm pretty sure most knew by the time I was about 18 weeks and they all knew when I was about 22 weeks.
I told my manager at 13 weeks because we'd had a bad scan result and I'd ended up taking half a day off, unplanned, when I just didn't go back to work after the scan at 12noon. Asked him not to tell anyone... didn't want to have people knowing and then have to tell them we lost the baby.
So waited until we got the all clear at 16 weeks and told everyone else then.
It was very difficult waiting so long but the good thing about it now is that I'm already up to almost half way - its going really fast!
