Aching stomach in very early pregnancy

    Hi all,

I am 5 and a bit weeks, with my first one. I don't really know what to expect, and haven't started telling people yet, so I can't really ask mum/sister etc.

My main symptom (apart from insatiable hunger) is that my stomach aches. It's worse at night, but even in the morning I feel as though it's got something really tight around it. It seems to have popped out a bit already, and it's quite firm (doesn't feel just like fat, if you know what I mean). The discomfort is all over, but mainly up near my ribs. It's not very pleasant to touch. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

    Congratulations Surprised!
I had all kinds of aches and pains early on too. I didn't have anyone I could ask and I didn't want to jinx anything by buying a book. But apparently, things start stretching early.
Now I'm 21 weeks those pains have gone, surprisingly.
Good luck. I hope things are not too uncomfortable for you.

Aches and pains are very normal right throughout pregnancy. My pains started very early on and I suffered from terrible bloating in the first trimester so the tightness you're feeling is probably bloating. Eat lots of fibre, exercise when you can and drink lots of water.

I still suffer from preggy aches and pains but they have changed a bit over the months. The bloating eased off at the beginning of the second trimester but then I got lots of ligament aches and now I getting stretching pains (from my big belly!), back ache, peliv pain and groin pain. Wonderful, isn't it?! LOL!

All sounds very normal to me hon so try not to worry. Oh, and congratulations on your pregnancy!!
