I went to the doctor for the first time today about my pregnancy. All is well with all that!
I am living in Singapore at the moment and Doc and I were talking about the scans etc and when they do them, and I mentioned that it would probably fall when I'm back home in Perth.
Then he mentioned about aeroplane radiation in early pregnancy! I had no idea that you got radiation from flying...did anyone else know about this.
I feel a 'little' bit weird about flying home now!
I've never heard of it? Maybe the security scanners in the airport??? I think it is safe to fly until you are close to you EDD and then not incase you go into labour on the plane. On really long flights you might have to be careful of DVT - move around a bit etc....
Yeah it's some sort of solar/cosmic radiation (the same sort you get when you step out of the door) but the difference is normally you're getting it at sea level, whereas when you're in a plane you're 30,000 ft (or whatever) closer to the source. Apparently the effect is negligible because you're up there for a relatively short time and it's such a miniscule low dose anyhow.
