I have tried everything I can tink of naturally to 'regulate' myself and non of it works.
benefiber, metamucil and all bran bulk things up so badly its like trying to pass a cricket ball.
And thats with 3L water. I cant drink more than that cos my pelvic floor wont handle it.
I had nearly a litre of pear juice as well as actual pears, this made little to no difference.
Im about out of ideas of how to tackle this naturally so was looking at agarol, but i've heard its one of the harsher things to take, is there something else I can have?
'slippery elm' powder is a natural alternative to metamucil and works really well. it will also help with your heartburn and can be brought from natural food shops. prune juice is always good, coloxyl from the chemist (ask if you can have this when preggers), or make up a big pot of vege and bean/lentil soup.
Agarol is not so strong at all. The midwife when i had DS told me that and wouldn't give it to me, and my mum who works on the bowel ward laughed at me when i told her it was strong.
It is fine to take, i would dose up on it until it does something (it is a stool softener), and then try and keep regular with metamucil.
I've been taking Agarol (which the chemist and my OB suggeted) and it's fine. My mum remembers using Agarol on all the old patients when she was a nurse back in her day.
If you want a quick but nasty clean out, Thai green curry prior to a dose of Agarol works a treat as I discovered last night....I DO NOT recommend it!
I take Naturafibe which my Ob put me one. There is also another one by the same company called Normalfibe which has a natural laxitive in it. Both are fine in pregnancy. As long as I take it every day I don't have any problems.
