alien face!

had my NT scan last week and they gave me a piccy of the babys face. it looks like an alien! just wondering if this is normal for this stage of development? i dunno how to post a photo though. all the side profiles are great its just the front of the face that looks wierd... they didnt mention any concerns though.

Yes it is TOTALLY normal. You have no need to worry, if you want you can google, 12 week ultrasound pictures. You will see your bub is totally normal.

Totally normal They all look like alien faces early on. Weird huh?!

It's pretty creepy isn't it? We got a photo at 12 weeks of our baby staring straight at us with the most evil-looking alien eyes - not really what you imagine your baby to look like!

He still looks a bit odd, but the sonographer said you only get the really nice face scans in the third trimester, when they've put on a bit of fat and the features are filled out.

Yep very normal! At my 18 week scan he looks like a skeleton - pic is in my gallery and it looks like he has no fingers - its just the angle and fluid!

I have been told that is where they actually got the alian image from, ultrasound scans of babies.

Don't worry - it's completely normal. We had this nice profile shot for our 12 week scan, so imagine my shock at my 19 week scan when I was handed a photo of an alien/skeleton's face and was told it was my baby's face! I think it's just that the ultrasound pics aren't very clear and can't make out all the intricate details of a face.

They look alien in most scans until they start putting on fat in the last part of the pregnancy.
