    Question Antibiotics in first trimester.

Ok, so atm i am sick, and not from ms, however it is lingering there underneath all this other stuff!

Before i found out i was pregnant, i had a slight wheeze in my chest, thought it was part of the cold i was developing and so ignored it, this was over 3 weeks ago, well two days ago i was in a bad way couldnt move, couldnt breath, blocked ears, razor throat, runny nose and still reluctant to see a dr cause i didnt want to take meds!

I had to bite the bullet and see the dr yesterday to find out that i have asthma, that i havent had in 10 plus years and a severe chest infection and cold!

Im taking amoxcillion and an asthma puffer, which the dr said, is ok to take and i had to weigh up what was going to be worse me developing pneumonia cause im so close to that happening if left untreated and not being there for my children, or taking meds and getting healthy, he said there is only a slight chance anything will happen to the baby.

I know in my head its going to be ok, i guess i just need reasurence, so far the universe has thrown me and this baby a whole heap of junk, im feeling weak, and dont know if i can take anymore!

I cant breath with out hearing myself wheeze, and i can feel it in my chest it hurts so much, i spend all day coughing, and spitting up phlem, gross i know, i hope it doesnt affect the baby.
Have u taken meds in the first trimester and was it all ok?

I had anti biotics for a sinus infection at 5 weeeks. My GP said they were completely safe and obviously a sinus infection is very unlikely to be life threatening and she was still happy to prescibe them.

I am sure you are fine!

    Hi Anila
The antibiotics are fine and there is some new research that some asthma treatments (inhaled steroids) can be beneficial to the baby

My asthma got about 1 billion times worse with pregnancy - just thought I'd drop in to say so. All it has meant is that I use my inhaler a little more often.

    Hope you get better soon.

Thanks again for the replies, thansk Alan for taking the time, i do feel more at ease now

My ear is starting to pop, so i guess that means the antibiotics are starting to work

wow that is interesting, would that have anything to do with the babys lungs?
