That is categorically incorrect honey and your GP needs to get up to date. It is not the dressing that causes listeriosis (although it could as well)...
Did you see on the news today that NORCO custard is being recalled as some batches have tested positive to listeriosis???
Have a look on the Australia New Zealand food standards website. It is very very clear about the risk in salads. Thus they are advised against serving them in maternity units!
Far out, I remember being given left-over ham sandwiches while in labour with DD (and they say not to bring food as they provide it, HA!). It's so hard to do the right thing with such conflicting information! GP said that the higher the liquid content of the food, the greater the risk, which is why cut salads that aren't dressed are fine. Eeeep.
I remember when I was living in America there was a big outbreak of listeriosis in packaged baby spinach - you know, type you buy at the supermarket for salads. Put me off buying any packaged lettuces for a long time.
