is quinoa low gi, carb, whatever too?
Could I join this thread, I haven't medically been told I have to not gain weight but I was heavier at conception with this baby than I was with the other 3, I would get getting close to the upper end of the BMI, for the first 18 weeks I managed to not gain a thing but in the last couple of weeks I have got lazy, food cravings etc and have put on 3kg. In total I was really hoping to not gain more than 5 in total, and I also tend to gain my most weight in the last trimester, with the previous 3 I have gained on aver 10kg.
I just need to find the motivation to manage my eating I think, no cravings for chocolate etc. I find lunches hard whilst trying to avoid your deli meats etc makes a good old sandwich less appealling.
ANy tips would be greatfully taken
I lost 2kg during my last pg due to gestational diabetes and having to follow a low gi diet. I alsoended up on insulin so was quite strict with myself.
I am going to be following the same diet this time and hopefully keep my bmi under 35.
My diet basically consisted of
Cereal, cup of tea for breakfast
Sandwich on low gi grainy bread for lunch
Meat and veg/ stir fries for dinner.
Apples were the main fruit I ate as everything else sent my levels up.
My one treat I allowed myself maybe twice a week was a spoonful of Milo in a glass if milk and that's it.
As for exercise, I walked 2-3 times per day for 10 minutes until 3rd Tri when my spd was really giving me grief.
I was diagnosed with gd at 17 weeks, so it was a long hard road but I reached my goal and didn't put on any extra weight.
I've been up and down with eating.
2 carrots for brekky, then a custard scroll for morning tea.
then mayb 1/2 cup stirfry with rice (couldn't eat anymore) and half a cup of fruit (again, couldn't finish it) for lunch, then a slice of hedgehog for arvo tea.
loads of jasmine tea (can't stand the look of my beloved coffee at the moment ... must be UTD!!)
another carrot for supper (late dinner tonight).
and then pasta with tom sauce for dinner. still ravenous.
have some pepsi now, but am hungries
want more pasta.
I've had a bit of a weird old day. Lunch was nothing special, a chicken sandwich. Had a freddo for afternoon tea and then only felt like baked beans and toast for dinner. But that may have been due to having lost my lunch in a most undignified manner (I spewed in the street, so embarrassed!) and was feeling delicate still.
Off to the Dr tomorrow for a checkup.
oh, you poor thing ... the street sprew is not fun. have been there.
actually, the station spew was probably my lowest point - the train was still about 10 minutes away, and everyone was just looking at me!! mortified.
It's so embarrassing isn't it? I said to DH that I will never judge a woman spewing in the street again...well, unless it's 3am and she's outside the pubI tried so hard to control it until I could duck behind a tree at least...but no dice.
