I am just wondering if anyone has been told that their bubs has a slightly enlarged kidney??
At my 20 wk u/s I was told that my bub had a slightly enlarged kidney... the report suggested that I need another u/s before 38 weeks. I had asked MANY midwives at the hospital at my appts and called a couple of times to try and organise this but all they kept telling me was that they would do the u/s on bubs once he/she is born. I had an appt yesterday and the midwife I saw was furious because noone (Midwives) had arranged for me to have the other u/s that was requested. So I am booked in for one next Tuesday and the OBs I saw yesterday and another midwife (I was hooked up to monitors for a while yesterday) said that everything should be fine and it usually corrects itself.
I'm not stressed as they seem to think everything will be fine but just wondering what other peoples experiences have been with this??
A friend of mine who was having triplets was told one of them had an enlarged kidney (possibly both - sorry i can't remember), i think she had a scan when she was born and goes for them every 6 months or so now - she is just one and the kidney/s are still abit enlarged but don't affect her in any way - she's happy and healthy and is just monitored every 6 months i think - i will ask her mum when i next see her if there's any more info.
Daneillec,
my bub has the same thing at the 20 week u/s. But Ob said their is nothig I can do to fix or worsen it - so don't stress (yeah trying telling that to a first time mum).
Went for my 32 week ultrasound and o/s appointment
Kidney still borderline fluid means that bub will need a ultrasound sometime after birth to see if it has settled down or ?????.
Was told not to stress as nothing I can do.
I found out it is very common especially in boys and tends to recitfy itself iether before or just after birth.
I had this with Alex and Eleanor.
Alex's wasn't picked up until the day before he was born. When he was 3wks old we went back for a ultrasound on him and it should one larger than the other. We then went back for a test were they stick a tube inside and add fluid so they can tell if it is blocked. We went back every 6months until he was 18months old and they said that it is something he will always have but we still have to look out for UTI's. He was on antibiotitcs until he was 6months old just in case he got a UTI.
A couple of scans with Eleanor showed she had the same problem but hers went away before she was born.
