Mummydreamer- I didn't really feel bub regularly until about 24 weeks I think, before that I would feel very occasional movements but only really been in the last 3-4 weeks that they're strong movements and coming all the time.
I think Alan was saying that MW like you to be able to feel 10 movements a day but he says not to start charting that until 28 weeks as before that a lot of the movements can be too light to feel and you end up panicking over nothing.
I'd say if you are feeling bubs at all that's a good thing!! Too early to be worrying about number of movements.

I'm 18 weeks and haven't felt any movement. I have an anterior placenta. I had anterior placentas with the girls as well, felt DD1 around 24 weeks, and DD2 around 22 weeks.

I had an anterior placenta with DD and felt them at 22 weeks. This one is anterior but it is high so i only feel kicks down real low. DS was prosterior placenta and felt them about 16 weeks. So theres definately a difference as to where your placenta may be.

I've been wondering this myself as I've only had a few kicks and felt unsure if there was anyone in there at all! Then went and re-read my 12 week report and it said that the placenta was forming "anteriorly" (try saying that three times quickly!) so it's reassured me a bit
