I have been shopping for clothes for baby and would like to know from others what sizes their bub's fit into from hospital - how big and if the weight/ size of bubs made a big difference in clothes sizes.. how long they fitted into each size and any other info would be handy, I have bought and been given bits and pieces from size 0000 to 0
DS was 8lbs 4oz at birth (3.740 kgs) so he fit into 0000 for quite awhile but it was also summer so he wasn't wearing long pants or long sleeves. I would only buy a few items in 0000 as you can always buy more if you need them.
DS wore size 0 for the longest - started wearing size 0 pretty consistently from 6 months and only at about 13/14 months did he start wearing size 1. He is now 15 months old and still wearing size 0 jeans and long pants - but size 1 all in ones and shirts.
Sizing at different stores and also different brands ranges as well. I find Bonds runs very small - Kmart clothes also tend to run small. Pumpkin Patch and Big W are average and Target runs large/long. Therefore I try to get a majority of DS's winter clothes from Target as I know they will last for awhile.
I hope that was the kind of information you were looking for and I hope that helps.
Oh, my other piece of advice is amount of clothing... DS was a poo-er (every feed) and a spewer and I often did a full wardrobe change after every feed. I didn't want to be chained to the house or the washing machine so I bought lots of clothes instead. So that is another thing to think about.
DD was 9lbs 4oz and 0000 (i had just bought about 10 outfits 0000 the week before she was born!!!) were to small so she was in 000 for a while then. she is now in 0.
My bubba arrived 5 weeks early, weighed 5lbs1oz, and 00000 are only just starting to fit him now! Definitely won't be in 0000 for a little bit yet. I was glad I had some really tiny things though, cos otherwise he would have had nothing to wear!
Claire was 2.9 kg /6lb 7oz, and 48 cm long. She wore 00000 for about 8 weeks. She is now 10 weeks and still fits into some 00000 but now fits 0000 too.
Good question- wish I'd have know a bit more beofre I had my baby.
My baby was 4.2kg/9lb 5oz and 51cm long and only fit into 0000 in hospital and maybe a week after that at most (so, 2-3 weeks all together). One other piece of advice to be mindful of- the Bonds brand tends to run extremely small comparted to other brands.
I didn't but too much clothes ahead of time (we didnt know the gender) and ended up getting so much clothes as gifts that I think I would have had more than was wearable if I had purchased a lot before.
If I were you, I would buy mostly 000 and a few 0000, because they are in them for such a short time. And if the 000 look too big, you can roll the sleeves up and put socks over the outside of the jumpsuit to hold the feet in place. It really isn't going to matter if their clothes look a little big to start with, especially if you're on a budget and can't buy too much to start with.
Jackson was 6lbs 6 oz - 3046gm and he was in 0000 which was still really big on him. I have bought a few 0000 suits for the hospital which is a pretty safe size even if it's only for a little whie unless you have a huge bubs. Then I bought 4 0000 outfits because I have this thing about taking bubs out of the house in grow suits, is like me leaving the house in my pyjamas - I like them to be dressed! I know it is silly.
DS was 0000 from birth, 000 from about 3-4w and 00 from 7-8w. He's still in 00. I made sure I had a couple of 00000 (called "newborn" here), mostly 0000 and 000 (here 0-1m and 0-3m), so I'm quite pleased that he's in 3-6m (00) at 3m old! Most of the 00 and 0 sizes were bought for DS as gifts when he was born, but I've had to buy some. I have also got him one size 1 vest, autumnal outfit and pair of pjyamas - don't want to be caught out when he grows into this size!
Min, I'm the same with the sleepsuits - my mother had to tell me off for getting DS dressed every day! He was in sleepsuits only in hospital the second time, but once my mum left I started putting day clothes on every day. Well, I aren't hanging around in my PJs, am I?
DS was 9lb 4oz and he fit into 0000 for approx 1 month..mainly the bright bots jumpsuits cause he was born in august they were pretty baggy around his middle though...after that he was into the 000 for a fair while cant really remember now (he is almost 3 )
With DD due in a little over 3 weeks i have not bought as much but i do have a good variety of 0000 and 000 and even some cute summery outfits in 00s...which my mumma bought before she passed away...she was always on the hunt for a bargain lol
