Bathing and Bum products for bub, creams, cloths, wipes etc what do you recommend?

Usually Palm Oil listed as Vegetable Oil.

yep, that's the one. They don't have to specify that it's actually palm oil. Vegetable oil can be used to cover most plant based oils and you'll even find it listed on most food as vegetable oil (like those frozen chips and such).

I actually feel like emailing the moogoo company and asking what is exactly in their vegetable oil and if they realise that alot of people may boycottalm oil them if they realise that their vegetable oil is palm oil.

There was a thread about it not long ago Maz, that is the only reason I know about it.
Someone send them and email and got one back that basically said there are other concerns they have and palm oil isn't one of them... Wonder where that thread is...

OOOO is that the thread (memory is poo!) where they basically said the cost to the consumer outweighs the use of the quantity of palm oil or something to that effect? I might be muddled because I tend to read a bit of media...

ETA: It might have been that they said the amount they use is minimal too. bummer, feeling muddled now...

lol Maz. I have to say I was rather disappointed, but I haven't ever bought any of their stuff so not too fussed, just found it odd they would use it.

I haven't read all the responses but will tell you what work well for our DD

- Gaia bath wash
- Sudocream at each nappy change to avoid nappy rash - she's only had a few bouts since birth!
- Huggies fragrance free wipes or Gaia wipes. We have NEVER had a problem with Huggies wipes but I know some bubs do.
- We have used Gaia moisturisers on the odd occassion but their skin is so soft, it really isn't necessary.
- Lucas Paw Paw cream for dry spots, really bad nappy rash (although Sudocream always works) and any other cuts or abbrasions
- for cradle cap, we used olive oil. Let it sit for a while (either while she bathed or a good 30 minutes before her bath) then either brushed off with a soft baby brush or just wiped off

For in the bath when they're tiny I use only water. When they're bigger I use 3 drops of lavender in the bath and I like Ecostore products from woolies and there's another wash with mallow and something.....grrr can't remember the name.

in terms of what to use, i think everyone has listed some good things. plain water while they're really young, essential oils. paw paw ointment. this one is natural:

the aldi fragrance free nappy wipes are really good, if you needed to buy wipes at some point. and i really love Gaia's products, they're really good for bub too.

That's the one that makes DD's skin break out. It's the mallow one in the little animal shaped bottle and looks the colour/consistancy of honey.

I can't for the life of me find my natural paw paw ointment right now. I will have to buy about 5 tubes while visiting melb I think because it's FANTASTIC stuff!

For the first few months I didn't use anything on DS. For nappy changes just some cotton balls and warm water did the trick.
After that we've just used the Gaia products. Only need a few drops so they last for ages and I like that I can just buy them from the supermarket. I also like the Burt's Bees range, Baby Bee.

We use a combination of cloth and disposable wipes, flannel squares (Big Softies brand, I'm too lazy to make my own, I think it's about $5 for 12 or something like that) and Gaia bamboo wipes.

Flannelette squares and face washers at the ready here! My flanno squares are old pillowcases cut up and edged. I hate disposable wipes, but they are great to have on hand for cleaning stove spills, skirting boards, DH's bikes etc.
Scalp care - since you're asking now - use a face washer, just wet with water and run it firmly over baby's head, backwards from the forehead, just to sort of scrub off any issues before they start. Do it daily from birth. I second the olive oil treatment if you do run into any issues.
I have ecostore and Gaia (x3!) and aromababy bath wash, don't know which I like. Probably won't use them in the bath, but I might make a pump pack with a little bit of baby wash and some water to use as a wipes solution.
And we've got microfleece liners that I made, it's just cut up microfleece. It was on special at Lincraft last week, being end of winter, or you can always buy it off ebay in a wider variety of colours.
