    Hi there,

I got a gift voucher the same ( i am using it today ) i asked the Dr and the Beautician - they both said the only thing i can't use is the IPL machine - the laser that gets rid of hair - other than that i am safe.
Although i don't think i would get the nails coz of the smell

I agree with Jackie about the nails, the smell is pretty intense and you cant really help but breathe it in as its right in front of you. I have heard that hair dying is perfectly safe during the second trimester, Foils are even safer as they dont touch the scalp. As for the massage, im jealous!! i want one too!!!!

    enjoy your pampering!

    Hi,
I just had my nails done on the weekend. The lady that did them is PG - due in June I think she said. She wore a mask whilst doing the chemical bit. I was actually wondering myself when I saw her belly.
With the massage when I was PG I was told by the tharapist when I rang they wouldn't normally do it in the first tri-mester, but if I got the OK from my DR they would. Other therapists in town wouldn't touch me.

yeh the mask is a good idea but im sure you would still inhale the fumes.

massage is tricky...there a few specialised places that do preg massage.

they dont like you laying on your tummy so they have special preg chairs or the tables with holes in it for your tummy

I'd steer clear of a full body massage - unless it's a "pregnancy" massage.

I've also got a beauty voucher and decided to book in for a pedicure. It includes a foot massage which should be nice.

I had to sign a form at my therapist to cover her when she does electrolysis. Also, my mother is a nurse who has done a reflexology course (medicinal foot massage) and she says she won't do pregnant women because there is an area on the foot that if you stimulate too much it can lead to miscarriage  .... sounds weird.... but who am I to know? I'd avoid overexposure to chemicals too, but dying your hair once or twice isn't going to be overly risky I don't think (compared to breathing inner city air anyhow!)

thanks for your advice everyone. i think i will leave the massage alone and maybe just get a haircut, save the rest for when i have the baby. thanks again.

I was thinking that about the foot massage Tulip --- I might change it because I don't want to risk anything. I too have heard about the pressure points and miscarriage issue.

Also be careful with any massage you get because I've heard that certain essential oils can trigger m/c or be harmful to the bubs.
