Our sonographer at the 12 week scan wouldn't even give us his guess, he just told us to ask at our 19 week scan. At our 19 week scan the sonographer said he was 99% sure he was correct with the sex, and I had our obstetrician confirm it yesterday with his in-office ultrasound machine. I feel confident with our gender-specific clothing purchases now, hehehe.
I would like to know, but it isn't really a problem if they are wrong. we already have one of each, so we don't need to buy anything - which I am a little sad about - we still have some outfits from the other two that haven't even had the tags pulled off. Plus I think DH would actually prefer another little girl, so now he has more time to get his head around it (and if they are wrong it's an added surprise).
Yep, I found out we were having a boy at the 12 week scan. It all depends on how experienced the sonographer is. Those that say they won't attempt to look, are generally the ones that aren't that experienced. My sonographer had over 20 years experience & boy you could tell. She zoomed around picking out body parts so quickly, I knew she knew her stuff. My Obstetrician said that if they say a boy, then there's a good chance it is, though if they say girl, the willy could just be hiding.
My friend was told at her 12 week scan that she was having a girl and yep, she was a girl .
I'm having a 12 week scan in a few weeks and am really curious if the sonographer will be able to tell. The one I saw with DS1 wouldn't even try to guess and I didn't have the 12 week scan with DS2. Apparently another way of finding out is to look at your babies "nub" in the u/s pic. Google "gender nub" if you want to find out more!
We asked at the 12 week scan but they would'nt even attempt to look, perhaps because we live in the country. But after looking into gender nubs and our previous US from other bubs we were pretty sure we were having a girl, and the 20 week scan confirmed. Very exciting stuff. There is a site angle of the dangle, one girl on there is very accurate in her reading of the scans if anyone has a good shot and wants to check it's a good place to go.
We were told at our 12 wk scan that DS was probably a boy, we kinda put it out of our minds (we thought it was waaay too early to know) and didn't have it confirmed because we wanted a surprise in the end. We totally forgot about it until just after he was born, but obviously they were right.
We were told at our 13wk scan that our new bundle is probably a girl. The sonographer gave as an 80% chance.
Apparently they don't look for girl or boys parts specifically. They look at the nub (I really don't know what this is) and the angle that it is hanging in relation to the spine. A nub pointing up is a boy and a nub pointing down is a girl...
