I posted this also on the pg complications board...
I am 21 + 6 days pg with 2nd child (another boy!). My oldest is 8 years old and I have a SD of 9 years old.
Since 8 weeks I was bleeding on and off until 16 weeks and from then I have bled every day. I have bright red sometimes with cramping, sometimes lose clots (and with that a gush of bright red which scares me) but so far baby is very well and happy.
I know some women do bleed and the possible explanation is that the veins in the uterus are bursting (my placenta is fine and cervix is fine too) but just wanted to hear of other stories and if the bleeding did eventually stop etc. Did you stay on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy?
I am so looking forward to getting to the next safe point of 24 weeks!
++++++++++++++++++++
Update today had another big bleed where it gushes down the loo, saw doc today and have another scan booked in 2 weeks time and will speak to paed about possible early baby. Hope to make it to 28 weeks at least!!
She said it is possible that I could make it all the way but they have to monitor my health.
Any else have this? It is soooo scary when you go to the loo and the water has turned red!
Hi mumnic,
My Sister bled all the way through 1 of her pregnancies, not constantly but a bleed that coincided with when her AF was due each month. Her's was un-explained. She had her baby only a couple of weeks early and everything else ended up perfect, happy and healthy.
I don't know much about it so I proberbly havn't helped your worries but I didn't want to say nothing at all!
Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy, I hope all goes really well for you!!
Mumnic - I know how stressful this is.
I've had bleeding almost everyday from 4 weeks up until 32 weeks. It's been bright red with clots and cramping, then spotting, then back to gushes of heavy bleeding...it has absolutely terrified me!
My OB said that it is a problem with the placenta - there is a separation on the edge of the placenta that keeps bleeding. Thankfully I'm now 35 weeks and everything has settled down. I was told that bub would be lucky to get to 24 weeks but now I'm expecting to get to full term. I wasn't put on bedrest for that whole time, but told to rest when I had bleeding...that was basically everyday. In the end I had to give up work quite early and rested as much as possible. I really believe that resting makes a difference, as anytime I did anything too physical the bleeding got heavier.
Good luck and hang in there - the stress can be exhausting.
Lou it sounds exactly like what is happening to me. They cant see any prob with placenta though. Am due for yet another scan in 2 weeks when I hit 24 weeks. Hopefully will confirm baby is week older then dates (as previous scans has shown) and possible cause.
I have appointment with paed then also to discuss early baby just so we are informed.
So need to reach 24 weeks and then aim for 28 etc. It is reassuring that it is not just ne this is happening to every day, and that we can get through it.
It scares me slightly when I see just spotting as I know now to expect to loose a clot and another gush but as you say positive thinking!
I am on bed rest and looks like I am staying this way for the duration.
So pleased to hear you are plus 30 weeks! When did it all start to settle down?
