I did with DD. I was nearly 36 weeks though. I had one lot and then 24hrs later another. I agree it did hurt. It hurt more then all the other bits and peices I was hooked up to lol.. I hope everything goes smoothly for you
Hey everyone.
Just wondering whether or not anyone here has had to have steroids in preparation for early delivery??
Looking at delivering little bubs in about 4 weeks (when I'll be 32 weeks), so I had to have steroids. They hurt alot!!! lol
Also, have you ever had to have more than one course of steroids??
I've had one course (one injection, and another injection 24 hours later)
I'm a bit worried that I'll have to have another course in 2 weeks.
Thanks!

I have had them for both my PG, DS1 being a threatened pre-term labour at 32 weeks, delivered at 34 weeks, baby's lungs were fine.
DS2 I was given them at 30 weeks, due to history, he was delivered at 38 wks.
It is a course of 2x injections 24 hrs apart, make sure it is done 24 hrs apart, if you forget there could be a chance you might need a second course.
i had them at 34 weeks. had one then another 24 hours later then DS was born 24 hours after that. they hurt more then the large bore cannulas they were trying to put in my hands!
I had the double dose at 32 weeks (24 hours appart) because we didn't think were were going to be able to stop the contractions, then had a top up dose at 35 weeks and delivered less than 48 hours later and she really needed them, was a CS and we only just avoided a transfer to NICU. Yet our 33 weeker didn't get them and actually coped better but it was a VB.
I can recommend to relax and wiggle your toes the whole time it really does help
Good luck hun, can I ask why they are delivering early?
Take care xxoo
when u have steroids do u have to be admitted to hospy or can OB do them in consulting rooms??
im up for steroids as well but not sure when just yet
The MW did mine in my OB's roomsMind you she has a pretty awesome setup, I had all my CTG's, ultrasounds (except 12/20wk), dopplers, growth scans and after DD1 some repair surgery when a stitch hadn't dissolved.
Thinking of you Crumpet![]()
I've had it twice once with DS at 25 weeks when i was in labour but they were attempting to stop or slow down the labour and with DD1 at 26 weeks when i was in labour, and yes those injections hurt! Not sure if everyone has them in the same place mine where around my bum/hip area and ouch! I only had the 2 injections each time, I obviously had mine up on the ward as I was admitted both times.
I had one course of steroids when I was 27 weeks (twelve hours apart) as I had a leak in my waters and was admitted to hospital. Thankfully I didn't need to deliver and the leak repaired itself. I got told when I went for a scan at 32 weeks that my baby's lungs are very mature so I guess that's a positive in having them done. I'm sorry to hear they hurt, to be honest I actually felt the same way. The first one was in my right thigh and it REALLY hurt, I even bruised. The second one in my left thigh didn't hurt as much initially but it was itchy and sore afterwards....But it's worth it for peace of mind that should something happen your little one will be better prepared (that's how I looked at it) Good luck!!
I did a course at 28 weeks. I demanded them with my DDs with fears that theyd be really prem.
Wow, its good to know that I'm not alone!! I got the first injection at the Royal Womens (not sure who it was that did it, just a MW I think) and the second injection done locally by my GP 24 hours later. First injection hurt a fair bit, and still hurts. Second injection done by GP hurt alot more, but stopped hurting after a couple hours.
I got both my injections in my butt! One on one side, one on the other.
Probably going to be delivering early due to the Gastroschisis (bub's bowel is on the outside) and they've just discovered that my placenta is aging a bit quickly.
Thanks again!
i had a course at 32 weeks the first lot hurt but i rekon the second lot hurt more coz i knew what was going to happen!! i had "don't have baby drugs too" DS wasnt born untill 38 weeks!!!
