Braxton Hicks at 14.5 weeks?? Or too early?

    Hi everyone,

This morning (after DTD) my uterus went very hard and felt similar to a braxton hicks contraction. Am I too early to be feeling them? I was a bit worried as it took a while for my uterus to relax. I have read that you start getting them at around 6 weeks but don't feel them until later on..
Please let me know your experiences. Thankyou..
    Kym.

yep i had them early with #2 and often throughout pregnancy.
    Esp after DTD too.

as long as no pain or bleeding i would say it is normal

With my first child I had an irritable uterus and so had contractions everyday from 24 weeks - not BH.

With this pg I have been a bit stressed about having the same prob as it lead to early labor for us. I thought I was having then again at around 13wks so called my OB who assured me that the uterus cannot contract as in a contraction until 20 weeks - something about the muscle of the uterus not being coordinated enough before this time. She thought I was just very in-tune with my body due to previous pg and increased anxiety.

Personally I think BH's are possible before 20wks - just that most women dont feel them yet. But thats just my 2c worth.

I am now definatley getting BH's often. Apparently the uterus will stay quite hard (as in BH) after sex or orgasm. DH and I dont DTD for fear of starting off irritable uterus again . Werent allowed to at all with last pg so playing it safe for this one too.

    Kymmy81,

I have been seeing a specialist every week, and we see lots of little BH conractions during our ultrasounds. They start from around 14 weeks and are very common. its unusual to be feeling them but not uncommon for their occurance so I guess you are just one of those lucky ones who are feeling them.

Don't worry its normal. Most people don't feel them until 5-6 months but they start occuring very early on in the pregnancy.

Kymmy, I got them early too this time. When I mentioned it to my ob (everything has worried me this pg ) he said that the uterus is continually contracting, and it is perfectly normal.

    Good luck!
