I've only just taken mine out again too I had it done for my 20th B'day so it's been with me for almost 14 years so I understand your attachment to it!

I have a few little stretchmarks around mine from previous PG's but they are barely noticeable afterwards. I did consider not bothering putting it back in after Caleb was born but TBH I thought it looked terrible with the hole semi closed up so I re-pierced it again.
It is easier to put it back in soon after the birth while the skin is really loose and floppy. A bit of lansinoh on it helps.
