Red face Can your belly be TOO big?

I know this sounds like a stupid question, especially being onto child #2, but after comments and looks I got out shopping yesterday, I thought I would ask.
Can your belly ever be TOO big for where you are at in your pregnancy? I only ask, because I was continually asked by many people yesterday how many weeks I had to go. Trouble with that is, I am only 15weeks pregnant.
People assume I am either 35weeks plus, or when finding out how far along I really am, that I am having multiples. It doesn't really bother me too much. I love getting comments on my belly. I LOVE my belly!
But after a few hundred comments... you start to wonder.....

I know that second + time around you tend to show earlier.... but this is a bit ridiculous. hehe
I worry that by being so big so early, that there could be a problem. Am I just thinking too much??

    Cheers

Yeh i agree, dont listen to them. Some people's bellys grow fast at the beginning and then slow down, others are the other way around. I dont think it can ever be too big, nore does it mean you will have a big baby.. bubs may just be practising to be a swimmer and need that extra room to do laps!
Your belly is gorgeous no matter what, because its carry a precious little bundle in there!

It's pretty common to be bigger earlier with subsequent children, I'm surprised you haven't been asked that - on finding out someone with a big belly is only in early pregnancy (although 15 weeks is almost halfway!), I'd ask (if it was polite to) 'have you got other children'?

If ALL of you was swollen, that might be worth checking out. But if it's just a lovely belly, then enjoy it!

I empathise!! At 20 weeks people at work were asking me when I was finishing up - saying not long now then? And I was saying "ummm no I'm only half way!" I still look big but according to my OB my fundal height is measuring spot on for my dates so it's just the way I'm carrying.

I don't have any advice unfortunately as I am just grinning and bearing it and thinking oh well it's only for a few months.

I so hear you on this hun.

I've been getting comments on the size of my belly since i was 9 weeks. The look of shock on 1 customer after finding out i was only 9 weeks when she thought i was close to having bubs. Then i got all the "are you having twins" & "you must be having twins" comments before my 12 weeks scan. I reached a point after 3 weeks of this on a daily basis that i started snapping at people when they made such comments.

I don't get them as mch now but i still get them. I never realised just how much a pregnant belly becomes public fodder. I'm sure these people would be mortified if we made a comment on how big their bellies were,so why should it be any different for us.

Having said that i'm just loving my belly & it's shape. I just hate strangers making such remarks about my growing baby.

I swelled up very early with this pregnancy. I needed to buy maternity clothes at 8wks!!
My first pregnancy we didnt even tell people I was pregnant till I was 15 weeks, and I was only just starting to show a tiny bit at that stage.

I think its very normal after your first pregnancy to show bigger and quicker.

Its horrible isn't. But at the same time some people get upset if someone was to say that 'wow you can't tell your pregnanct cause you have no bump" this can make some people think people are saying they have a small baby or something is wrong. So you can't really win. I am huge but I am sure thats just because I am only small and I look way out of proportion. I just figure ahh its only for a little while longer then I will be less huge. BUT I am sure there will be people out there that will say that I have not got my figure back very quickly either. I guess we all just need to grow tougher skin every week that our tummies get bigger! Hang in there hun, after all you have a miracle inside you so your special

Sniff sniff... I have the same problem... but this is my first...

    Moving along!

It just goes to show how different we all are

I actually had one pharmacist say "Oh you'll have a nice big baby then, that's great, we like big babies, nice and healthy!"

    hi again

yes - we may need to all take it in our stride like everything else that's fun with being preg i.e. strangers touching us, unsolicited advice, raging hormones etc etc etc.

i actually just spoke to another colleague who commented AGAIN that i'm not showing ... anyway she mentioned it could have something to do with having a 'long stomach'.. i'm particularly tall in the stomach area apparently - i kind of get what she's saying.... but now i'm eyeing off my stumpy legs???

I forgot to say this is my 1st pregnancy too. I think i'm just one of these people that pop early. I seem to be all front. I'm now getting people starting to tell me i'm having a boy just because i'm carrying all at the front.

puppies ~ Your right, you can't win either way. People either tell you you're massive or your tiny for whatever stage you're at. As long as my baby is healthy & growing properly i don't care.

I just people would think before they speak.
