I have one Destiny and one Zuzu. Both are convertible and are for newborn to 18kg. And i got both of them from Big W a few years ago for DD1 and they are now about to be used for DD2 when she arrives.

I'd recommend buying or hiring a capsule from the council for a newborn. I had DD in it until she was 6 months old and it was great to be able to get her in and out of the car without waking her and disturbing her with buckling etc. Plus you can put them on the floor of restaurants, cafe etc and not worry about squashing the pram between seats...

DH and I bought a Safe n Sound Meridien, which then was a little too big to fit into my car (a Mazda 3 - quite little) so now we've got another Safe n Sound, a Compaq. It is smaller but still has all the Safe n Sound features.

For DS1 we hired a baby capsule from the counsil and found it to be so handy. now he is in a safe and sound galaxy something. Cant remember the full name of it. So for this one on the way we are going to be buying one. Think it is going to be the fisher price one.

We bought the Safe and Sound Unity capsule, which goes to 12kg (rebranded as fisher price but is excatly the same except for the covers) When DD1 is finished with her seat DD3 should be ready for it, other wise we will get another one just like it. DD1 is in an Infa Secure Optima and it goes from 8kg to 26kg. DD2 is in another seat that when rear facing goes up to 12 kg, but I like the idea of a capsule when I have a preschooler, so that I don't have to disturb her too much with all the running around you do with preschoolers.

safe n Sound Capsule till 6 months. A littl eheavy if you have lots of running around but can easily be placed in a trolley which makes shopping easier.

We have a safe n sound meridian (i think) it goes from about 8-26kg. By the time no 2 is out of the capsule no 1 shoul dbe okay for a booster seat and 2 can use her carseat.

Hired a capsule from Kidsafe, as it is easier to move a sleeping baby about in.

Interesting about the 4 year old part. I was aware they were changing to restraints/booster till 7, which was one of the considerations when chossing our carseat. But i wasn't aware of the car seat until 4. I had planned on getting a booster for no1 but she'll only be about 2 & 1/2 so maybe i will have to buy another "carseat".

    Maybebabie,

Yep carseat till 4, maxirider or similat is a good one as changes from carseat to a booster. My dd#2 is in one as a booster now at age 5.5years she was still in it as a car seat till she was 5. Safer for them.
