I agree with you on intuition Trace, I think we all have the ability to birth and birth well. However the majority of us are giving birth in a place which is not conducive to that or supportive of that - 'they' are the experts and this rubs off on women, so most go to hospital, feel completely disempowered and feel that they need to be a good 'patient' but I wouldn't call well women 'patients' which is what pregnant women are Often decisions are made for us, because we 'don't know better' and 'they' are the experts... so I think birth skills are important in this instance. Some are confident and know what they want, but I have seen even some of the strongest women crumble with white coat syndrome and blood pressure skyrocket!
