Cold/sore throat remedies safe in pregnancy?

    Hi all,

Well, lucky me... DH has shared his lovely man flu germs with me and I've managed to get his cold! I have a super busy feel, feel like total poo and I want to help myself get over it as quickly as possible!

I have a super busy week too, couldn't have come at a worse time.

I have taken some paracetamol and have been gargling but seem to be getting worse, not better! ARGH!

So... any tips for shaking this cold quick smart?

I know it's old fashioned, but I find lots of warm water with a serious squeeze of lemon juice really helps.

Or weak black tea with honey in it.

And plenty of carbs (warm oats made with boiling water, with a bit of honey and a few sultanas - nothing to flavour-y) but no dairy or meat, because it makes me feel awful ...

    get well soon!

Honey lemon tea, orange juice and vegemite on toast. Paracetemol. Sleeping. I've found that I get the killer sore throat for 1/2 days then sniffles for a week, but for me it's the sore throat that's the worst! Remember it will end

You might have to make your super busy week go away and rest rest rest instead. Sorry.

Not sure what you're gargling with, weak salt water should help the most.

I used Fess Nasal Spray - Eucalyptus, just so it doesnt get worse or turn into a chest infection.

Thanks ladies! Paracetamol and tons of honey and lemon seem to be doing the trick for now. Sniffles, which is what it seems to have toned down to now I can cope with...

Ive just gotten over the flu, sore/swollen throat etc. I ended up going to my GP as nothing eased it at all, who put me on anti biotics which cleared it up in no time. So you could either do that, or he also told me you can take Panadeine which has codeine in it and i found really helped with the pain in my throat as the plain paracetamol did nothing.

    Hope youre feeling better soon.
