Yes you read right. Its a totally trivial topic I know.
I am a HUGE George Michael fan.
He is coming to my city the day before my due date. One date only. Its the first time he has been here since 1989.
I would dearly dearly dearly dearly love love to go.
This is my second pregnancy. My first ended up in an caesaerean following a "failed induction" at 42 +1. Closed unripe cervix. Babe sitting posterior and not really properly engaged. Nothing could get me going.
My obstetrician indicated its an even money bet that the same could happen again but frankly my view is at this stage (27 weeks) he can't really tell too much as babe is not settled anywhere near her final position.
I carried really well all the way through. Usual aches and pains and intermittent sleep by the end but nothing super worrying.
I am touch wood doing the same.
Last time I was very stressed about possibly having a caesar. This time I am not so fussed although would probably deep down like a crack at a natural birth for a range of reasons including the practical - I don't have the support available to manage super well during a 6 week recovery period post casear with a 2.5 yo in tow.
Only downsides I can see are that I could go into labour beforehand and miss the concert or will end up quite tired as a result of the late night which might have an impact if I go into labour shortly thereafter.
The concert is at a venue about the same distance as my home from the hospital so if something were to go a miss I am not worried about not being close to medical help.
DS will be in creche the day of the concert and the day after if need be so I can rest up.
On the upside murphys law might dictate that I go naturally if I book an expensive hopefully very close to front row ticket!
What are your thoughts? Would you take the punt and book to go?
Buy that ticket, girl!! The only reason I haven't gone to a concert while heavily pregnant is that all the concerts are in Brisbane, 6 hours away from me, so it's a bit risky. I wanted sooo badly to go and see Lady Gaga when she toured with PCD earlier this year but it was just too close to my due date... thankfully she announced a headlining tour early next year so I have tickets to that, but yeah I was so cut that it was so far away and so close to my due date!
If you're going to be close to hospital and seated, go for your life Once-in-a-lifetime opportunities are just that! Worst-case scenario is that you go into labour before the concert and miss out Or that you go into labour *at* the concert and maybe GM will come visit you in hospital the next day for some positive publicity
Now this is not the same thing, but here goes anyway!
My mum took me out with a few of her friends to a Manpower show when I had 7 weeks to go and I was so worried that the loud music would demage bubs hearing (as I have heard that can happen when music is loud, just as it can to ours, but of course they're more sensitive). I am a worry wart though!!!
I'd also be worried that bub would come a little early and you may not want to leave bub, but there is always Ebay!
It is a tough one, I can understand you wanting to go and see him.... I was desperate to go and see Kings of Leon this year, but couldn't bring myself to leave DD Now am wishing I had!
You have loved him for so long and I hear he is a fantastic performer!!! I am sorry I'm not much of a help... If it was me I think I'd pass... But thats just me, it is completely up to you hun!
I don't see why not. The only thing I can think of is to have people who want to take your tickets as a backup, if you do go into labour beforehand, then at least the tickets won't be wasted.
i would go for it, my husbands best friend plays in a bang and he had a gig 2 days before my due date and everything went fine, just make sure you have a plan for which ever way things go - if you have bubs ealier is there a sitter, will you still go etc ... if you go into labour there, make sure there is someone to take you to the hospital etc .... if you're still pregnant and dont go into labour enjoy sometime out before you have another bundle to look after
i just went to see fleetwood mac at 35 weeks.... but it was an hour and a half drive for me as i am in the country.... i was really tired afterwards, but thats cos i backed it up with four hours of christmas shopping....
if it were me i'd possibly get the ticket, but have someone lined up to take the ticket if bubs comes early...
BUY THE TICKET!! Nothing to lose, to rare an opportunity to pass up I reckon, and aside from the fact that you'll probably be exhausted from being out for the night, whatever happens it'll be a night to remember. And a very good story to tell
I would get the ticket regardless & maybe organise someone to take your ticket if you can't make it?
Its been 22yrs since he was here last & very likely he won't be back again... AND he wasn't going to do the Melbourne concert because they wouldn't give him the venue because of the NAB cup.... and he's coming, so GO WOMAN!!!!

Usually I would say definitely... I am a real concert going type of person and went to a few in my pregnancy. BUT... I had a ticket to see Pink when I was 32 or so weeks, and I decided not to go. Only because my pelvis had been killing me, so sitting in a seat for hours would have made me suffer for weeks... not to mention the fact that my carpal tunnel was starting to play up again, so I made the awful choice to give my ticket to my DH and he went with our DD1.
I honestly thought I would be fine to go but I definitely wasn't
