Confused and slightly concerned

Hi ladies. I got my BFP last Sunday and due to my fibroid I went and had a scan yesterday. The scan put me at roughly 5wks 2days and could only see the sac. She then did an internal ultrasound but seen even less due to the fibroid blocking the view. I got my hcg leeks this morning and they are at 57,000 which seems quite high for how far along I am. I know I shouldn't but I googled it and there's alot of talk about being able to see a HB with such a high hcg level and if it's an empty sac the pregnancy might not be viable. I know my fibroid puts me at a higher risk of mc and should wait to see the gyno but was hoping someone might have experienced something similar? Positive or negative. I'm not stressing myself out about it (yet) just curious thanks ladies

It's VERY early to be seeing a HB, especially from an external scan. I have no advice as my pregnancy had low HCG levels which is a whole different stress. he he. I think that number is quite high though. Congrats on your pregnancy and I hope it all goes smoothly for you!!

usually they can see a heart beat at 6W so try not to worry yourself too much... when is your next scan?

If they couldn't really see from the internal because of the fibroid I wouldn't stress. At 6w 3 days they couldn't get a HB externally for me and only the internal showed it. Even then the HB had only been going 3 or 4 days he said as it was still gathering speed.

Try not to stress about it because 5w2d is very early. I doubt its possible to hear the h/b so early with an abdominal scan, only an internal one could pick it up at that gestation.

Like the other ladies have said, that's very early stages for a heartbeat - not unheard of but certainly not something you would suspect. My FS won't do a scan until 6.5 to 7 weeks because he says it causes way too much anxiety in women when they don't see a heartbeat. Even then its an internal scan.

FWIW, I've had ridiculously high hcg levels with the two out of three pregnancies that I had monitored - so much so that my doctors and (this time) the nurses at my FS were all amazed when the scan showed just one. Everyone was expecting twins given the numbers.

Good to hear you're not stressing. Try to sit back and enjoy your pregnancy, although if I'm any indication high hcg levels mean you're in for some pretty full on ms!

Thanks so much ladies I think I was more confused cos the slip pathology gave me with my levels has the little table giving you an idea of how far along you are given your levels and mine put me at 6-7 weeks so then i thought I should have seen more than an empty sac! But guess I just have to trust the technician I'm waiting on my referral to go through to the gyno and I reckon they'll get me back in next week. Fun times!! Our bodies are so strange but amazing at the same time. Thanks again for the well wishes!
