Definition of Cramps

Can someone please tell me what the definition of a cramp is..

I am meant to be looking out for cramps after some bleeding.

and of course I am looking at everything and worrying.
I am trying to ask myself how I would feel about the aches if I wasnt bleeding.

but finding it hard.

at the moment I have an aching which feels to be in the sides of my stomach almost like oblique situp pain type thing.

how do I tell what is muscular and what's a cramp?

I always thought that cramps tend to come in waves - like period pains....

If it is muscular it tends to come on when you move/lay in a particular way...

Maybe someone else has a better idea??
