Yes, with my first pg I didn b/c I didn't know I was pg, I was travelling overseas and enjoying 1 or 2 glasses a night with dinner. With my other pgs I stopped b/c of my multiple m/c & I didn't want to increase any risk to my babies, (apart from DD, all my other pg ended in m/c) or be wondering 'what if?' I have also stopped whilst doing IVF

for the bulk of my pregnancy with DD, i had a similar mindset to what Gigi had - i'd worked so hard and suffered so much to get pregnant with her, i was petrified of doing anything "wrong" that could put her at any sort of risk. i believed (and still do) that it would be my only pregnancy taken to term, so i wanted to make sure i did everything right. i couldn't learn from my mistakes this time and do it better/right next time. so yes, i was probably OTT cautious. as well as cutting alcohol, i cut out coke (which i was told to have one can daily in my teens as migraine preventative - by a neurologist! - was cheaper than the meds i was on, and worked more effectively!). so yes, i was very cautious - and it wasn't age, it wasn't that my pregnancy was any more precious than any other - it simply was the way i felt at the time. just because i felt that way, didn't mean i thought anyone else was wrong - it was just me kwim??

anyway - it was in the last 4 weeks or so that i started to crave beer when DH was home. maybe longer than that - i know i wanted a beer when we got evac'd due to the fires - but the unstoppable craving was around a month before she was born. a wise BB'er (love ya rouge!) told me to just have some - a glass now and again wouldn't hurt - and it was probably better to drink it in a small amount then to end up with a craving so bad i over indulged. so i drank about half a glass every four or five days when DH was having a beer, and got over it pretty quickly!

My hen's night was about a week before I found out I was pregnant with Ianto, and I got fall-down-throw-up-pass-out drunk I think one of the first threads I started here was asking if that would harm the baby... Thankfully, everyone said it was probably before implantation anyway

When I was about twelve weeks with Amelia, I had a tiny sip of the free champagne sent to our hotel room for our anniversary. That's it.

I'm not a drinker anyway, so both instances were about all I would have had to drink anyway, pregnant or otherwise.

I'm not much of a drinker anymore (I got a LOT of that out of my system in my 20s). I also had to use IVF to fall pregnant. For me it just hasn't been worth the risk to have even one drink, not that I have really felt like it at all. I feel for you girls that have suffered from cravings for booze during pregnancy! That must be hard!

Yes is the answer to your question LMS. Only I can judge myself and im not bothered what others think of me. Never more than one a week with DD, and stuff all after 19 weeks with DS (complicated and high risk pregnancy).

I'll have 1/2 a glass of red wine on a special occasion - like at Xmas & our wedding anniversary (and it takes me all night to drink it, lol). But no more than that - well except the other day when it was really hot and DH cracked a beer and I really felt like some... weird as I don't like beer! I had about 4 mouthfuls and was done.

Yes I did! I occasionally had a glass of champagne if out at a dinner party; I just drank it super slowly and had lots of water with it. And I always chose a fancy one - after all it was my one cherished glass! I also occasionally had half a glass of beer with hubby at home.

    Thanks again everyone.

Its so good to see so many mixed answers and we all have our reasons for drinking or not. I would never judge unless it was a bottle a day kind of thing!

Yes, I did. Not until after bub was at about 26wks gestation and only 1-2 standard drinks at a time. Never usually more than once or twice a week, if at all. I'm not much of a drinker normally anyway, but when I am pg, I seem to crave the taste of alcohol, particularly a nice cold beer!

Mmmm, I might have to have a beer tonight, it's been a while!

I didn't drink throughout my pg, I am not much of a drinker anyway do it didn't phase me. Only had one drink while BFing and that was Xmas eve last year as IL opened a really expensive french champagne and poured me a glass and I felt really guilty to waste it do had about half a glass. It was also the first time if had French champagne !
