Just curious to find out from those who had S&S done if it worked for you. I had one done today, but am still only 38 + 2. I'm 2cm dilated and "soft".
I realise it's not guaranteed to get anything happening and I'm probably still going to be hanging around in 2 weeks waiting, but I guess i'm just after a little glimmer of hope that they can work
So did your S&S work for you, and what dates were you when you had it done?
I was 3 days off from being due, had awful pre-labour pains. Had a S&S, wasn't even dilated, but was ripe and bub engaged. Went in labour that night and 3 hours later bub was born
DS 1 - I was 39 + 4 was also ripe and about 2 cm's had it done at 12pm and waters started leaking and minor labour pains about 4 pm that afternoon.
DS 2 - I was 39+6 had it done on my Dr's appt on the Monday, had a few stronger BH rest of Monday and Tuesday was a rip roarer of a electrical storm all Tuesday afternoon, sure enough woke up around 4am with contractions.
i had a S&S at 40 + 8, i had been having pre labour pains for a few weeks and the S&S def ramped them up but didnt actually end up inducing labour. i would def give it a go next time for sure Good Luck Babe, hope it works for you coz being overdue sucks lol
Yes at 37 weeks with dd2, but I was already in labour and 3cm dilated, after being in the early stages of labour for two weeks, it hurt like hell and I still needed my waters broken.
black rose - I was expecting it to hurt like hell... I haven't had any internals with this pg but was in tears for the 3 internals I had at the end of my pg with DD, they hurt so much! I found it uncomfortable and it made me tense up a little but it didn't actually "hurt" at all which I was grateful for. I could feel her doing it but it was just uncomfortable. She said she could feel the baby's head, so weird to think that she touched his head!
I have never had them hurt before either but I was in tears, I think I tensed up while it was happening and I just wanted dd out. The internals with ds didn't hurt anywhere near as much but I didn't need a s&s.
Well, it must have been unsuccessful... it's been more than 48hrs and all it did was help me lose some plug and ramp up my BH... still painless but more intense.
Stubborn little guy can wait until after today now
I had one done on Friday (my EDD) but no labour as yet either. Loads more BH & some pretty grim discharge but no plug or anything exciting. I was 2cm & "soft & stretchy" too. I was expecting in to hurt but it was surprisingly fine. I have to have another on Thursday but I will be requesting a MW do it again I'm not letting the Ob do it Drs usually make things like that way more painful!
I had one at 41+2, started losing plug the next morning and contractions began that afternoon.
I only scored a 4 on the bishop thingy (so technically unfavourable still), but obviously it helped things along anyway.
I had one at 39+1 and another yesterday at 39+6. The only thing they did for me so far was make me lose mucous in the amount of a golf ball (lol TMI). That was for the first one. Yesterdays seemed to be a little more successful to a point as there was blood on the glove when she came out (again TMI) and now every time I cough or sneeze I get a band of tightening that lasts for about 2 seconds around my belly and back. BORING!!! I guess it did accomplish something though. The midwife had a student with her, and I was asked if she could "poke around" too. So I donated my body to science for a little bit and let her go "fishing" too I guess. Not pleasant, but seeing as I want to be a midwife too some day I hope some nice lady also allows me to go delving into the depths of the unknown. (Why should anyone be excited by this prospect???? Lol)
Oh PS The stretch and sweeps didnt hurt either time, just a little uncomfortable. I think it hurts the "dignity" a little more
